Anyone wish they'd bought at a different resort?

I think it has alot to do with peoples personal preferences........
I had orginally looked into DVC when the only WDW DVC property that existed was OKW and I knew this was not for me. I love the larger 1 BR at OKW but the location, the condo style feeling of the resort, lack of restaurants, lack of nighttime activity, the bus only transportation, etc. was just not for me. Since I go to WDW 3-4 times a year, buying a DVC membership at a non WDW property was never a consideration, so after my initial look-see at OKW, I just thought a DVC membership was not meant to be. Then BWV was built and even then I was not an immediate sell. However, when I first visited BWV, during a WDW trip when we were staying at YC, I knew this was for me! I returned home and within months I bought my DVC membership with my home resort at BWV. I have not regretted it for a single second!
I love the fact that with a DVC membership I can choose to stay at other DVC resorts and have done so in the past and enjoyed my stay. This is a definite plus of a DVC membership and a plus that sold me on buying a DVC membership and also a plus that I intend to take advantage of to visit VB, HH, etc. But if I buy additional points or another contract it will be either at BWV, BCV or VWL(unless Disney builds additional DVC resorts that are similiar to these 3). I like being in the locations where there are parks within walking distance or a boat ride away, a variety of restaurants to choose from, room service, valet parking, an enhanced pool, etc. From my experiences with booking through member services BWV & VWL are not so easy to get reservations at, so since I prefer these locations/atmosphere I would want additional points/contracts here. Of course if I got a super duper deal at OKW, then I am sure I could get real good at booking at 11 months and switching resorts at the 7 month window. But why make life more difficult than it has to be????

We purchased at OKW in 1995 and have been very happy with all of our vacations there. We have also vacationed at the BWV and will be trying out the new BCV this Summer. We (DH and me) usually take one long vacation each year in a Studio (possibly two when we retire) because we come down from New York. Our married children also get to come down with us approximately every other year and we stay in a 2-bedroom villa. We don't vacation during holidays or Spring breaks, so we have not had any problem at all booking at the 7-month window so far. If we ever desire to go during the holidays, we would book at OKW. We request "preferred view" at the BWV so there hasn't been any problem getting ressies at 7 months. We love the WL and will eventually stay at the WLV in the future. But, for us, we "long" to return to OKW in between to get that "welcome home, small-town resort" atmosphere we love so much. With owning the DVC, we certainly have it all -- flexibility to try each of the resorts, and a home base resort to return to.

Home is VWL but we have had our first stay at Vero (loved it very very much). We don't have school age children anymore so we're very flexible about when we can go...we plan on staying at every resort and making them all our "Home". That's why I love DVC...if you can be flexible with your vacation times (I understand that is not alway possible especially with little ones) you don't have to be "stuck" anywhere.

We bought into OKW in 1992 and have never had one regret. We also have no desire, yet, to stay anywhere else. This may change, but even after 10 years when we consider trying another resort we never have the desire. I prefer a very short walk from car to room as opposed to the long treks from the parking lot to the room in the other resorts. That is what is great about the DVC there is something for everyone!

No. Our only regret is that we didn't buy in sooner.:)
