I've never used this website, so could you explain how it works? How long does it take for a hotel to accept an offer and how do you know if your offer was accepted? Any information will be appreciated! Thanks!

It only takes about 15 minutes to find out via e-mail, but DON'T bid one anything until you've gone to biddingfortravel.com and really studied the wonderful information there.

Thanks for the website, tar heel. I'll go check it out right now.

You will know in less than a minute, almost always. The screen will go to a waiting thing...then your answer pops up.

I was so nervous when I first used Priceline, even after studying the biddingfortravel.com site. BUT, I have found that it is WONDERFUL to stay at a nice hotel and save some money. Study up, jump in, and try it! We recently booked our first hotel....a Hilton in Arlington, TX, for $45!

Hi Jolie,

If you looking to bid for a hotel, best to bid for a 3* to get a decent hotel anywhere.

herc.

I've wanted to try priceline forever and I was going to book my inlaws a room near our house, however I used it for the first time with our last trip to WDW and we stayed at the "Resort" level Marriott World Orlando for $85. I even got a super room with an awesome view of the pools with the waterfalls. It does work and I wonder why I never did it before!

Thanks for the great information, everyone!

Um. . .don't try to post on www.biddingfortravel.com unless you don't mind getting your head bitten off. Just study the FAQs and the winning bids for the area you are interested in.

Just a friendly warning. . .

Peggy

Oh go ahead and post there. Who cares if the moderator gets all upset? It gives her something to do.

I just ignore her altogether. I think she has told me about 10 times to TURN ON MY PM. (That is so she can PM me about how I post all wrong) I have yet to do anything she says. LOL

I have to disagree with the 3 previous posters... you should go onto that site .... read everything you can on it.... the reason why it sounds like she is bitting off your head is because her board isnt' a "socail" one like this is....her's is strictly business....people go on and post their winnings....they ask for suggestions and they get them...but she will get upset with you if the answer to your question is in her FAQ section...she spends a lot of time on it to keep it updated. She she makes no money off of of posters... she may make a small percent if you log onto Priceline thru Amazing Bargins but that is about it....she gets nothing from Priceline! If it weren't for her... I would never be able to go to Orlando as often as I do..... keep all of this in mind when surfing her site... Her board isnt' for socail chit-chat...it is for what you bid on, what you got & how much you got it for....:D

I agree the board is not for chit chat. I do post since I think it is useful if people know the winning bids of other people.

That said, tact does not appear to be strong point there. I just don't take it personally and I think some of the stuff she wants to know is none of her business so I don't include it in my posts.

I wouldn't take anything Sheryl over at biddingfortravel.com personal-- but the women COULD use some people skills. I read- and I only post my winning bids. I don't have the time to ask her opinion, she wants your life history first and better watch out if you're missing 1/10th of the info  !! Great site, but poster's w/ questions beware.

She's not allowed to link amazing bargains from her site anymore. That's why she wants to PM you-to send you the link.
The site has been a great help to me. I've booked hundreds of rooms on Priceline. Once you get the hang of it, it's a cinch.
Why pay $179 for a hotel room when you can get it for less than half that?

I have booked MANY times thru Priceline and I've gotten nearly all my info from either here or Sheryl's site. I know what she wants and I post in that way.

BTW, she used to post here on our "social" site and STILL proved her lack of people skills.

IMHO, there is NEVER an excuse to be nasty. Attitute is 90% of life and it reflects on your business and yourself.

She should put in large red font at the top of each board to post ONLY bid assistance and winning bids.

I go to the site only to look to see what others have gotten. I will not post a bid assistance or my winning bid, because I do not like to get my head bitten off.

So I do recommend that everyone go a look at her FAQ's, and the board for the area you are looking at staying. But DO NOT post anything other then her specific "Bid Assitance" form and winning bids, if you choose.

Make sure that your plans are cast in stone before bidding on a room. I've had to forfeit money the last two times that I've bid for priceline rooms. It's not their fault, but it still stings to not be able to use a prepaid room.

If you need more pointers, you can contact NancyIL. In my book, she's the Priceline Queen. She has gotten incredible deals on rooms a lot of times.

AMEN!!! Nancy helped me with my very first deal back in 2000! AND she did it without the attitude!

Jolie C,
Just some advice: Use biddingfortravel to see which hotels are being used in the area you are looking at. Then, before you bid, go to the hotels website and look for any extra charges like parking or resort fees. Those are not included in your bid price and are paid directly to the hotel. That way you will be happier with your winning bid knowing ahead of time there won't be any surprises @ checkout.
