Anyone watching the SATC reboot? Major spoiler inside...

I hated: The focus on SJP's shoes as she ran to big in the shower. Was I supposed to care that she sacrificed an expensive pair of shoes as her husband was dying?

But - but - but that was Symbolic! And Artsy! Cause they were the "wedding shoes" and they died in the shower with Big. :rotfl:

So I've needed some mind-candy lately and started re-watching the original run of the series. And I take back about 80% of my criticism of the reboot. It absolutely is me. They're all much more annoying to 40-something me than they were to 20-something me.

This is why I am afraid to watch. I binged the whole series one winter. I even got my roommate hooked. I don't want to ruin that amazing time the show gave.

ok I started watching the 3rd episode during a break from work this morning ( I work from home) Anyway, it is MUCH better than I thought. I only watched the first 20 mins or so, but it is not the gloomy doomy death grief sad type of episode I thought it would be. It does pick up a few weeks after the funeral, but it is light hearted and dare I say kind of funny at times. I have to get back to work so I will watch the rest later, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Mild spoilers below so don't read if you don't want any spoilers:

Don't like that they are literally making Steve an 85 year old curmudgeon

Don't like that they are setting Miranda up to have drinking problem

seems like they are having Miranda and Steve have marital problems. I think she will gravitate to Che

Me either. I actually liked how the original series wrapped up, so I didn’t watch the movies, and I don’t have access to the reboot. I want to remember Carrie with Big, and the four friends hanging out together.

Just because people lose loved ones in real life doesn’t mean it’s entertaining to watch, at least not to me. So much loss the last couple of years in real life. I don’t need it on my TV as fiction too.

I watched episode 3 today... I DID drink a couple glasses of sauv blanc while watching, but it seems to feel a lot like the original to me. I am not too thrilled with some of the directions they seem to be going, but I am hooked on it.

I'm definitely going to continue to watch. I love discussions of aging, parenting teens, and how the world has changed since the original series. I might not agree with how they are handling everything but it is definitely relevant to me at my stage of life. It's been fun to talk about with friends.

Just watched episode three. They seem to be settling into a rhythm now. I'm totally on board with all the modernizations and social awareness. The only thing that bugs me is I have never liked Sara Ramirez. She annoyed me on Grey's Anatomy and annoys me here.

Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with her sexual status. I didn't care for her long before she came out.

I know the original show is problematic, but I do enjoy much of it. Not all though, I love Mikhail Baryshnikov, but hated his storyline in Season 6. The first movie was fine. The second movie is unwatchable after the wedding was over - just incredibly offensive.

That being said, I was looking forward to this and purposely avoided spoilers. At the end of episode 1, I was sobbing and I do not cry over TV shows and fictional characters. But, it hit a little close to home. Although I did not always like the Mr. Big character, I do love Chris Noth as an actor and will abso-effing-lutely miss him on the show. I thought the having flowers come from Samantha was a really nice way to honor her character as I thought they were rather flippant about her in the first episode. I know Kim Cattrall will never return to the show, and I think that is a loss.

Charlotte is still irritating to me. I had great sympathy for Miranda as she tried so hard to learn from others and be open to other perspectives, but just kept saying the wrong things. They seem to be leading that character toward a problem with alcohol and I am not happy with that. Although Carrie was the center of the original show, I always found Miranda and Samantha more interesting so will be interested to see where this goes with Miranda. I would never wear what Carrie wears, but do enjoy seeing the fashions.

Well figured out why they made Steve an 80 year old man. Miranda confessing to them not having sex in years. So they are more roommates then husband and wife.

Glad nothing was too deep with Natasha since she hadn't talked to Big since the divorce.

Did laugh with the landline number and deodorant comment. We've had that yo deodorant conversation with our teens.

Nice it ended with Carrie back home. Honestly I would relocate and do the same.

They should of started with the first 3 episodes vs. the first 2. Would of been better that way considering the first 2 episodes were really heavy emotionally. Glad this episode was so much lighter and back into the so-called groove of things. I get that Charlotte overreacts on things, yet I feel like she's being brushed off as a Karen now. Laughed hard at Harry's right of way bathroom & pee comment.

The Chris Noth, SA alligations, yikes. Just like that, everyone is now glad and celebrating that Big is dead. Too soon? Yeah it's too soon. Just hope it isn't true.

Yeah, I just finished the episode and I guess they are making Miranda look elsewhere for love now that Steve is 150 years old. I just don't like Steve in this series. It's like an 80 year old yelling, "Eh? Whaddaya say!??? I can't hear nothing!" I hate that they did that to him. I guess they wanted to drive Miranda into someone else's arms and this was a way to do it without having Steve cheat on her or be a jerk or something.

I think Charlotte is a good mom, struggling to understand Rose. I like that she is accepting of Rose and trying to help her. I liked her talking to Anthony and he said she was like a starter dough and you don't know how she will end up.

I cracked up at the part where Carrie was pointing up to Natashas office and she was looking down at them. They way they scurried off screaming and yelping and trying to cover their faces was so funny. Then when they turned the corner they were complaining that their knees hurt. LOL! Loved it.

I agree they needed to show the first 3 episodes.

Heard about Chris Noth. Yikes.

I think one of Natasha’s kids is BIGs 🤷🏽‍♀️ The way they nonchalantly mentioned the fact that Carrie didn’t know she had kids….that’s what the $1,000,000 was for 👍🏾
Now that Carrie knows where her kids go to school, I think she’s gonna take a peek at them and somehow see that son #1 and son #2 may look different (with #1 looking like a young BIG)

Yeah, I got theories 🤣😂🤣

Never thought if that! It would be an interesting story line, but I don't think they will go that direction. Natasha seemed sincere when she told Carrie she didn't know why he left her the money. Plus, I just don't see them tainting Big like that. I think they are leaving their love story more pure. I could see Carrie maybe thinking that and going on a wild goose chase to get a look at the kids, and maybe one has a resemblance to Big, but in the end I think it would turn out not to be Big's. We'll see. It's an interesting theory, and Natasha DID mention where her kids go to school, so maybe Carrie will investigate.

100% she is going to hook up with Che.
I am annoyed to about Steve, come on he's in his 50's.

Well with the new of Chris Noth, he probably would have been written off now anyway.

But I did enjoy episode 3 last night.

I’m not loving it, it’s so forced and predictable. Hmm, do we think Miranda will have a drinking problem? Experiment sexually? And her hair isn’t natural gray!
