Anyone watching MTV Video music awards?

I recorded it and watched it this afternoon. I was not impressed. I usually love the awards, but I thought this was by far, the worst one.

Hoobastank was HORRIBLE. I love them and that song, too. Chaka sounded off, Petey Pablo sounded like he was rapping ahead of the track.....drove me nuts.

Watched about (2) hours of it.

* Chapelle is a better host than the Wayan brothers.
* Christina A./Nelly were my favorite.
* Had no clue who the group was that wore multi-colored choir robes and the lead singer kept giving the camera the evil eye.
* Alicia K, Stevie W and Lenny K were awesome, and so was Jessica S.
* Why is Marliyn Manson presenting an award. Is he relevant.
* Remember, don't forget to vote. How many times did I hear that last night.

* The awards are kind of bogus. Maybe Outkast "Hey ya" is a well made video, but the others just don't stand out. I always hope to see state of the art videos or a good story, but that's just wishful thinking on my part. Johny Cash's Hurt should have won last year, but MTV would never award a country artist.

I saw most of it, and I thought it was pretty boring. Nelly and Christina were pretty good, though, as well as Stevie, Lenny and Alicia.

I thought Jessica Simpson was horrible! Though I don't like her music, I always thought she had a good voice. But last night....eek! I hate the way she sang that song. It was the way she pronounced the words, almost like it was baby-singing (as opposed to baby talking). I, along with my DH and friends that we had over, wanted to gag.

And Hoobastank stunk!

I can't believe people are saying how good Jessica Simpson was... she was flatter than FLAT last night!! TERRIBLE! Even my tone deaf husband cringed and flipped the station really quickly. =) PAINFUL!!

In her defense, I haven't heard her perform badly very often. She usually has a good ear, so she may have had hearing issues on that stage/venue. Her sister, on the other hand, is always out of tune when I hear her...

In defense of the artists, in a venue like that, it's really hard to hear yourself and the music...and judging by the number of technical issues, I wouldn't doubt that some of the ear pieces weren't working either.

I didn't watch it but I wondered about Lenny since he chopped all of this hair off. It's good to hear that he still looks good.

I usually love the way Jessica Simpson sings, but I think she sounded like Britney last night. Something was different about it. She did look gorgeous though.
