Anyone watching Michael Jackson's memorial?

No I didn't watch it, I did watch Paris on TMZ and she looked like she was forcing herself to cry more then anything IMO. And of course she loved her father and thought he was the greatest, he probably never bothered her, if I remember correctly didn't he like little boys?

This memorial shouldn't have happened, [FONT=&quot]pedophiles[/FONT] shouldn't be memorialized, he was a sick man in so many ways, this whole thing makes me ill.

The performances were fantastic. I'm so glad I taped it. The songs were especially powerful.

I LOVED the performances too, they were all so well done! The whole Memorial was so well done. I love it, I loved celebrating his life today.

No offense, but judging from your signature, you have also experienced tragic loss. One would think you would understand the pain of losing someone close to you and give enough respect to refrain from nonsensical judgment.

This thread was conversation about the memorial service, not a place to spew ignorant hatred...there are plenty of places on the web for that.


Unless you have inside information, how can you judge him? I think if Michael was guilty of anything it was being naive. Not to know the motives of that mother was bad judgement. I could go on, but this isn't the thread for that.


His family deserves to love and grieve him. Even the most evil of people have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children, and friends.

Not one person has come forward to say ill of him. If he was truely the digusting person you accuse him of...where are these people? (and that ignorant congressman who wanted 15 minutes of fame, doesn't count)

Actually the OP should adjust the title of this thread. All the title did was ask the question "Is anyone watching MJ memorial". It should read something like "What are your comments/feelings about the MJ memorial"

Some people (like myself) see the question in the title and then post an answer without going through dozens of pages of replies.

I removed my original reply because the title did not lead me to believe that this thread was a MJ love fest. If I offended anyone in my first reply then I apologize.

I don't get the feeling that this is a lovefest. I saw it as commenting on the proceedings, not really a place to air one's beliefs about innocence or guilt and certainly not a place to say nasty things about the kids. That's just my take.

I just hope the media leaves these kids alone now. Their dad did a really good job of keeping them hidden, with any luck they won't be stalked like the other celebrity children.

I have to say, I was quite happy when the media refused to show Diana's boys during her funeral (and they were quite a bit older than the Jackson kids then) It actually really bothers me when the media tries to show kids in mourning (and it seems to be every public memorial service, etc. regardless of the people involved) -- sure, it's the picture we all look at but it would make me feel better if they gave the kids some space. It's ok if they want to be seen, but they should have kept the cameras off them until they were on stage.

Kids have no choice what family they're born into, and just because their parent is a celebrity it doesn't mean they should have no privacy. I agree, MJ did a lot to protect his kids from the media, but I also believe it shouldn't have been necessary. Strange how a child who is suddenly orphaned would have less rights to privacy than a 15 y.o. who'd killed 7 people.

I've actually been thinking about this the past couple of weeks, and I'm hoping to do something about it.

I've been here most of the day (on this thread), believe me, this wasn't a love fest about MJ, but a conversation about the memorial service-the speakers, the performers, the media coverage, etc.

I'm a child of the 80s, so I know the huge impact MJ had during his Thriller heyday. I enjoyed his music, but never really was a fanatic....I was into the hair bands. lol Plenty of David Lee Roth posters on my wall.

My opinions have been about the service. I thought it was beautiful and tastefully done. I was appalled by some of the comments, especially about Paris. I didn't think that was appropriate.

I'm sorry if I don't share your judgemental feelings about a person I never really knew. I guess I'm just surprised how many people are casting stones.

I watched the memorial. I'm a fan of his music and dancing. He was an amazing performer. Along with that, I believe he acted inapropriately with young boys; whether he actually molested them or not, I don't know, but I know a regular Joe Shmo from next door would have been run out of town on a rail if he invited boys to sleepovers. Even LaToya said there was something not kosher going on.

That said, I believe Paris's emotion was real, that she loved her father very much, and that she is obviously having a hard time with his death. My heart breaks for her, as it does for any child who loses a parent they loved dearly. I cried when she spoke about him. I also loved the way Janet held her so tightly when she broke down, and Prince Michael there resting his head on Janet's shoulder. I saw the love the Jackson siblings had for Michael, and that's why I'm glad I watched the memorial.

You've got to be kidding me. Only a cold-hearted person could say that that beautiful little girl was forcing herself to cry. How pathetic. Really you contradicted yourself. 1st you said she looked like she was forcing herself to cry then you said "of course she loved her father". If you felt she loved her father then would did you think she would need to force herself to cry?? The tears were genuine and that was quite obvious.

Also, how do you know he was a sick man and a pedophile? Were you there? People make accusations of people with money all the time with the goal of getting a chunk of that money.

The title of the thread is very misleading then. But then threads on Dis often go off into tangents (was on one the other day that went from chairs at TL to parking lots)

But...memorial services and funerals often bring about a lot of other feelings than just pure adoration. Real people have real faults, issues, struggles, and failures. And often its the people that are left behind that become centre of attention (as in this case, with the children) and rightly so.

I myself am struggling with a fair bit of anger over how MJ left those kids without any parents -- sure, they'll have his mother, but they'd be better off if they still had him.

I don't see how a guy with the accusations he had against him, even though aquitted there was a bit of stuff in there to make me think that it was in fact leaning on the side that he probably did something. The childs ID of identifying marks on MJ's man parts for one. Then his own words admitting he was a child cuddler and him constantly taking only prepubecent boys all around the world with him. Yes he helped other children but he didn't keep girls close to him like he did boys of that age. And yes of course the mom of the kid that accused him was shady perps pick the weakest victims and he had alread6y been accused once so most normal 2 parent well to do familys weren't going to sene their sons off for a weekend at neverland at that point. PUT ALL THAT ASIDE PRETEND IT NEVER HSPPENED,
He was a black man that turned himself into what can only e described as a white woman, ok you can get over that I GUESS, But this guy had a 48k a month prescription drug habit. I think that pretty much rules him out as a great guy or parent of the year. How people can go on and on about what a graat guy he was is beyond me. And how much parenting do you actually think he was doing loaded up on that amount of meds???? I would guess not much.
I was talking to my friend who happens to be black not that it has much to do with her response to me but she said it doesnt matter how abused a kid is or what conditions they live in, when CPS comes to remove them they are not relieved, they think the social worker is the devil themselves. They all love their parents. I am not surprised MJs kids feel the same way. I bet when he was conscious he was somewhat fun to be around. Hell give me that kind of a cocktail and I coule put on a damn peppy face for my kids too. I don't think that makes for a good parent. JMHO.
I don't care how much you love his music or what kind of a fan you were back in the day, this man was a waste in his later years. I don't hear people going on about what a great person and mom anna nicole smith was. She wasn't either these two were just as messed up and if you are honest she was doing a hell of a lot better then he was.
