Anyone watching Michael Jackson's memorial?

Who was the guy singing with Mariah

I think it was Trey Lorenz but I am not sure.

DD, DS and I are watching. We also spent a good part of the afternoon watching his videos on MTV (yes we should have been being productive--but hey it is once).

ETA--I didn't explain I htink it was Trey Lorenz singing with Mariah because that is who sang with her on the duet in the nineties. I only vaguely know what he looks like though so I could easily be wrong.

I agree about Mariah's dress, a little too revealing for a memorial. Queen Latifah looks great. I love her too!I am alittle behind so I haven't seen Lionel yet.

I was wondering also about his body really being there- HOWEVER, I'm glad they are choosing to have a closed casket if he is really there instead of parading his body around like James Brown and having costume changes while doing so. I wouldn't be watching in that case!

I am watching it....

I don't believe MJ's body is in the casket....

I believe he is being buried right now back at the Forest Lawns while everyone's attention is elsewhere on the Staples Center.

I think everyone who went to the cemetery this morning said their good bye's then and this memorial service is so MJ can be laid to rest in peace. Without the glare of the media circus surrounding his death.

Who knows, maybe Elizabeth Taylor is there with him.

I just don't believe for a minute MJ's in that casket but it does make for good tv.

I agree. There is no way that body is in that casket.

I'm watching. There is nothing else on. I don't know. The whole spectacle of it all seems really icky to me.

I'm very torn about the whole thing. Of course I'm in another room right now where I can't see the TV but I can hear it.

I may just turn it off.

One of the commentators said that the Tribute title screen was shown only for a few minutes so the family could get seated without being seen on camera. I think it was planned for the brothers to be seen since they were the pall bearers, but I think (hope) that Janet is helping comfort Michael's children & they sure won't show them.

No matter what you think of MJ, he made an impact on the world (good and or bad) he made an impact.

I am not grieving for Michael Jackson-I am grieving for a man who spent his entire life searching for peace of mind and sad that I don't think he ever found it before he died

As an aside, did you know that MJ is in the Guiness Book of World Records for most charities supported by a musician? I think he was a good man.

Anyways, I just got home and turned on the memorial to hear the sweet sound of Stevie Wonder-now there's a voice that puts you a ease

Trey Lorenz sang with Mariah (they recorded the song together several years ago)...her dress was too low cut, but then again, she ALWAYS dresses that way.

LOVED Lionel and Stevie. Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson are speaking now-thought Berry Gordy did a great job.

They must be there. They just said on abc news that Barbara Walters was reporting that his sons are showing very little emotion. The only emotion is being shown by his daughter.

My guess is... they are overwhelmed and in shock maybe. This must be so hard for them.

I believe the kids are there. I was watching the feeds earlier and the news reported the kids were at Forest Lawn HH. Since they all went straight from there to Staples, I assume they are with the family.

It was LOUD this morning. I work less than a mile away from the cemetary and live close to the Encino area. The helicopters started at 4 am.

There is still one or two above the cemetary. I can hear them.

We are watching it. His casket is beautiful. They mentioned that a number of ticket holders didn't show up so they were letting fans in from the outside that didn't have tickets but were there.

I've been thinking this same thing since they announced that the family would have a separate service in the morning. I think it's the only way to have the burial done with respect. But then I thought that the stalkerazzi must have thought the same thing and would be staking out the cemetaries right now...
