Anyone watching Big Love??

The previews show Bill eyeing yet another woman. Do we have another wife in the works? I really like this show. I love the wives and their relationships. I can't imagine co-habitating with my husband and two other women who are wives to him but hey, they almost make it look amusing.

Can someone tell me what the episode is titled in On Demand where they are talking about their characters?

I can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

Big Love, Big Family, Go Figure

(I think) I recorded it and watched it already but that's what I think it was called.

There's some days I'd be happy to share - like when my DH's crabby like the kids get when they're tired. Look out!:rotfl:

I know...it is such a creepy subject, but they make this family so likable and so normal. Each of the women seem like someone you could be friends with (ok, well, maybe not Nicky). And the relationship with Bill seems secondary to the relationship the women have with each other.

OK, so they're replaying last night's episode on HBO. The Juniper Creek police are at Bill's houses looking for Rhonda. The one police officer says to Nicky "Everyone knows why you took her, Nicky."

What does that mean? If Nicky wanted to hide the fact that she knew about Roman exposing Barb, then why would she take Rhonda from the compound and into the house?

Do you think that Rhonda might be Roman and Nicky's child? Remember how creepily cozy Roman and Nicky looked on the bed at Nicky's little boy's bday party when Bill walked in!? She could have had her as a young teenager and the Volmers could have taken her in. This could've been well hidden at the compound, I'm sure.

Therefore, if "everyone knows why you took her, Nicky", there has to be more to this story line. There has to be another reason why Rhonda is calling Nicky a liar, etc. Thoughts!?

Oh my :scared1: Totally believable!!

DH and I are fascinated by Big Love, we are truly amazed how they handle every single situation. We were absolutely in shock that Bill was eyeing that waitress at that restaurant, like he doesn't have his hands full with his 3 wives!!

Only 5 more days until the next episode!! popcorn::

But then EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...if that were true, Rhonda was about to be sealed to her father!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this show, but I could never live like that. I just don't share well...lol

I love this show....

I know...When Barb got sick....Nicky came and took care of her....
and thats how she got in the picture....

Does anyone know....How did Marjene?..get in the picture....
I don't recall seeing that....

They were just amazing in the last episodes! Nicky's mom being so cold and then stomping on the tape. And I loved the scene where she was chain sawing the pig!

And Bills mom, so funny those expressions of hers!!! I loved it when Bill said she'd go to jail too and she whipped into action, trying to get Wanda to shoot the prosecuter!!

Oh man, what's not to love about that show!!! :rotfl:

The pig scene was priceless. And Nicky is just so enamored of her family.

I loved when Rhonda told Sara that if they went to the mall together, she'd buy Sara something very nice because she had $24 in FOODSTAMPS! :)

Wasn't Margene working for Bill and screwing up royally at work when he took her in?

I think that Alby is contemplating bringing Sara back to the compound to replace Rhonda since he thinks that Bill stole her.

They showed Alby with one of his wives, in bed, the night that Roman woke them up in the middle of the night.

Nicky's father sent her to take care of Barb when she got sick and then they made her the first plural wife. I think it was all a manipulation to get Bill back in the fold.

Did you catch when Margene and Nicky were having dinner at the Mexican restaurant and Margene talked about what had brought her (Nicky) to Bill -- and Nicky said, "I brought myself to Bill." With a weird look on her face.

Yes -- if I'm not mistaken, she became their babysitter first. However, I've been watching this show from day 1 (have Season 1 on DVD) and we never saw this on any of the shows. I heard it on one of those "interview w/the actors" type things.

They didn't even show the Nicky in the hospital w/the newborn scene until that "Big Love Big Family Go Figure" show.

I would love it if they'd take us back to the beginning ... Barb being sick and Nicky taking care of her, Nicky's marriage to Bill, Margene's induction into the group, etc. Maybe, one day, they'll have a special segment on "The Beginning". Not a full blown story line ... just clips that sort of piece things together and show us what happened before the full-blown show.

I think Nicky's going to Bill was Nicky's idea and I don't think it took much to convince Roman into letting her go. With Bill owing Roman the money to open the store up, Roman knew he'd have Bill in his pocket for the rest of his life when adding Nicky to the pile!

I know ... but that's the sort of stuff happens on those compounds, don't you think?

I was having lunch last week with a consultant that was doing work for me. During our conversation, he mentioned that he and his wife had lived in Salt Lake City before moving to Atlanta.

He started telling me the story of Mormon and how Joseph Smith died before making it to Utah. Brigham Young took them to a parcel of land, in the middle of the desert to live that the government gave them to get them out of mainstream society. BY was the visionary behind the setup of SLC.

Anyway, so he started telling me about how prevelant polygamy is in Utah even though it's been banned years ago. He said there are many men who live very well while their wives and children live in squalor, collecting welfare checks of which part of them goes back to the husband, hence his ability to live well.

He told me that if you marry in the Mormon temple, you need permission from the elders first. They make sure that you are living up to the standards of Mormon before granting you permission. At the marriage ceremony, the husband and wife are given secret names that will be used in the afterlife. The man knows the woman's secret name but the woman doesn't get to know the man's. That is so the man can call for the woman in the Kingdom after death. If he chooses to not call out for her, she doesn't know his secret name so she can't call for him.

The consultant was quick to tell me that he is NOT Mormon, just grew up there. Both of us agreed that a woman would have to have very low self-esteem to allow herself to be considered some man's chattle.

If you have onDemand they do show a little of the backstory. They are titled things like "5 years ago" etc. The first is Nicky in the hospital just after having her first child and she is going a bit off the deep end (no, not Nicky, huh? ;) ) and Barb is there comforting here. The 2nd is when Bill first brings Margene home as "the babysitter" and Nicky realizes what is happening. The 3rd is the 3 women telling Bill they think they need 3 houses. They fill in a few gaps but I agree I'd like to see more of it.

I love the show...can not imagine living like that though. Seeing Ben and Bryn made me think, could you date someone who grew up that way? I don't think I could. I'd be afraid things would seem great and we'd get married then all of a sudden one day he would expect that changing "the rules" and bringing home wife #2 would be just fine (given that was what happened in his family, kwim?).

How convenient that only the man gets to know. How nice for him. He gets to make that decision to call his wife. What about the woman? Can she decide to answer or does she just run like the "helpless female"? What if the woman doesn't want to asnwer the man? Does she have to? And, why would your name change to some secret name in the Celestial Kingdom? If my name is Susan on Earth and it turns into Jane in the Celestial Kingdom, how am I supposed to know that if it's such a secret? I might hear DH calling "Jane, Jane" and I'd be thinking "Gee, that sounds like DH but who the heck is Jane?!?!" They talk all about being joined up in the Celestial Kingdom (on the show) and it's only up to the man!? :confused3 So not fair!

Answers, people ... I want answers!

BTW -- thanks for the enlightening post about Mormons!

Sorry that I didn't get more information. Isn't it just amazing?

I think that having a secret name is so that other men would not call you in the CK. Only your DH would know your name. I'd guess that he'd share his secret name with you at the point that he found you. Weird, and sexist, I know. Our conversation on Utah didn't take up much of our lunch. We had to talk about nerdy tech stuff, too. That took up most of our time.

No worries -- didn't expect you to have all my answers. I was just putting them out there in hopes that someone might have some answers!

But at some point, you have to run out of names and start recycling them, right!? ;) So what if someone else's Jane answers you? lol!
