Ok, I'll admit it. I teared up a few times, especially when the son went into his bedroom and started to cry. He was so cute.

Wish the designers would have gotten along better.

All in all, the house looked nice, but none of their stuff was back in the closets, so it would be interesting to see what the house looked like once they did that.

And another thing, how did they get off from work, etc if they did not have advance notice.

What does everyone else think

I watched it and also got VERY teary eyed especially when the boy saw his room....tears were actually pouring down my face!!!! I thought the house looked great!!!! (and so did Ty of course!!;) )

I really didn't care much for the pirate ship by the pool.....a little too gaudy IMHO.

The did get the exact fridge and stove that I want to get too....

I wasn't that thrilled with Olivia's room. It was cute....but nothing great...except I did think that little secret path thing to the parents room was pretty cool

The living room and kitchen looked beautiful. The son's room also turned out terrific. Have to agree on the pool, too much. Also, the new TV room seemed like the kind of room that would be amusing for a week or so and then it would get annoying. I can't imagine being comfortable in the "truck" every time you watched TV. It was out of proportion too.

I wondered that about them getting off from work, too. And I was choking back the tears seeing all of them bawling. I kinda like the pirate ship, but I was thinking I'm sure they'll tear it down before too long when it gets old (didn't really look like it would hold up after much rain anyway). I was thinking surely they'd put a couch in there with that truck so they could get comfy, but that idea was so cute I think I'd have to leave the murals and truck in place.

What the heck was up with that landscaping guy? I hope if they ever do this again, he gets the boot. What a baby.

I watched it. I also teared up when they saw the new house. Esp. the boy.
The pirate ship was cool, but I don't think it will last too long either.
That Preston guy was a total jerk.
I sure would like them to come and do my house. :teeth:

I have to agree I also was crying. What a JERK that Preston guy was. And I could have looked a Ty's body all night long........What a HUNK!!!
They all can come to my house anytime except for Preston he can stay home.

The car front was in the garage - as was their old large screen TV. I'm sure they won't use it all the time cause they had a new flat panel in their Great Room for normal TV viewing. But it's still a cool idea.

I liked what they did with the Pirate ship. It woulda looked shoddy if they had done it the original planned way. I think it's gonna last a while - they had all the cast up there standing on it. If it can take that....

I liked it, but I think they set the bar high for other people to write in to sign up for this. It'd be fun to apply, but I don't think I'd even get chosen because we don't "deserve it"... Just kinda the impression I got.

You can get more of TY watching Trading Spaces--he's a regular. (I think it's Trading Spaces, might be While You Were Out...but I knew I'd seen him before when the show began.)

I was starting to wonder if they'd get it done in time but it turned out beautifully. I liked the pirate ship in the back yard. Cool idea. I can't believe what a fuss Preston was putting up with the landscaping. Has he never had to meet a deadline before? And you never go against the contractor boss/foreman. I can't believe Preston went behind Pat's back and was making changes to the plan. What would they have done if he pulled all his workers out? What was Preston doing inside anyway? I thought he was in charge of exterior design/landscaping.

I would love if they came and did that to my house but I agree that they made normal people feel like they didn't deserve it. I would love to see how much they spent on the project. Not only did the practically rebuild the house, they bought them a new truck and sent them to Atlantis for a week (a VERY expensive hotel).

I must have missed the reason why the family was so "deserving" for this huge gift.

I know I'm sure it was something big, but in my opinion, there really wasn't anything *really horrible* about their home to begin with. I wish they would do this sort of project on a family that really has NOTHING.

Their daughter had leukemia. They put all home improvements on hold while they concentrated on her treatment. All is well with the daughter now and they were ready to turn their attention to the house. I think I saw that they had begun renovations when they got the diagnosis, so it was a fitting surprise for them!

I loved this show but why does the network need drama, I think they made Preston be a jerk for the drama, It would have been a great show without it. The boy was so sweet I was so happy for them.

I wondered about sending them on the vacation too. I wonder if they filmed the surprise, had several weeks/months to get organized on both sides and then sent them on the trip?

Thats a good point disykat---I bet that is exactly what they did--I never ever thought of that---

Sorry I don't post here very often, so I hope I do this right. The family they selected, the father works part-time for the same company that I work for. I don't believe that the mother works at all. Anyways the father works full time for one of the grocery store chains in Southern Cal and he works then after hours for us on store displays at other markets. (He is a very hard worker). The mother was outside one day working on the house and someone who was in the neighborhood drove by and started chatting with her about this new show they were going to do and if they would be interested. Then when they heard about Olivia they were even more interested in having them be the family for the show. I unfortunatly didn't get a chance to see the telecast. Our company has done a couple of fundraisers for the association that has helped Olivia and her family and they were very appreciative. We flew the whole family up to Norcal last year for our Christmas party and sent them all to the Boardwalk here in Santa Cruz and they were in tears because they had never been able to afford to do a family vacation like that. They really are nice people and they deserve anything good that comes their way.
