Anyone want to start an "official" Windsor Hills thread?

What do you all think about starting an "official" WH thread similar to the Wyndham Bonnet Creek thread and one one for each of the Disney Resorts? It seems that next to WBC, WH is the next most popular resort. Might be nice to have a couple of posts about resort basics, ways to book, nearby stores and dining, etc. I haven't stayed at WH yet (going in Sept) so it didn't feel right for me to start one.

I have never stayed at WH so I can't comment much but I think it might be a good idea. It's because of the WBC thread that we decided to stay there instead of onsite (that, and money). As far as the Disney resorts, those are in a different forum I believe.

I think it would be a good idea to start an "Official offsite resort community" thread, where we could all post about the pros and cons of each resort community. Windsor Hills is nice but there a lot of resorts that get overlooked that are also very close by and probably less expensive. There are pros and cons to each community. Also, there is a lot of confusion between condo vs townhouse vs house, and what each offers in each community.

Just as an example at WH there are condos, townhomes, and houses. The condos do NOT have private pools, the townhouses and houses DO have private pools, but for the most part only the condos and townhouses are walking distance to the clubhouse. At Paradise Palms there are townhouses and houses and all have private pools, there are no condos (which are cheapest to rent), but every home is walking distance to the clubhouse. Windsor Palms is similar to WH as far as what it offers. Then there is Oakwater (very close to DW, condos only, no private pools) etc, etc, etc.

It would be nice if all of this info was in one thread.

Me too, regarding staying at WBC. I was like...well this many DIS-ers can't be wrong! And they weren't--we have nothing but good things to say about our week spent at WBC in 2012.

It was all the WH posts on this boards that got me thinking about trying that resort--and the prices that you can get for the condos and townhomes are insane--significantly cheaper than what most people can get WBC for. We are trying it out this September...because if we like it, it would be so great to have accommodations for the week in the $500-range.

Yes, the ones for the Disney resorts are in the Disney Resorts forum. The one time I stayed on site, I enjoyed reading and posting in the WL board. I think it's just fun to share your excitement about your stay and ask specific nit-picky questions to people "in the know."

That is an interesting idea! I would really wonder, however, if enough "experts" from the lesser traveled resorts (Reunion, Indian Creek, etc.) would frequent the thread enough to make it valuable. The nice thing about the WBC thread and the Disney threads is that there are quite a few people on there who have been to the resort.

If someone wanted to do a detailed explanation/summary of some of the top resort communities and have it be a sticky--that might be helpful.

If I get some time tonight after my baby goes to bed, I might take a stab at starting a thread, with the intro post very similar to this one in the original "We Loooooooove" Bonnet Creek" thread. If it takes, off, great...if not, oh well. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2114303

I am all for this. I found this resort recommended so much on the boards that I checked it out and booked a condo for next year's spring break. I couldn't believe what a great price it was and how beautiful the resort is. Would love to hear more details from people that have been there including info on nearby restaurants and stores or fastest way to get to the parks.

We rented a house for June. Looked on VBRO and reserved it last July. I am interested in stores and restaurants nearby. We are eating most meals in.

I think it would be a great idea to have a separate dedicated thread for Windsor Hills Resort and all of the communities. We have homes in Windsor Hills and ChampionsGate Resort. All resorts have their own pros and cons.

Windsor Hills does have condos, townhomes and homes for rent. The condos and townhouses are the closest for walking to the clubhouse, but there is parking available at the clubhouse as well. So it really doesn't make a big difference where in the community you stay. The community isn't so big that driving or a walk would be bad.

There are a LOT of restaurants and stores nearby as well. You can go to probably 50 different restaurants within a 10 minute drive of Windsor Hills.

I could provide more info, but I don't want to write a novel on here! Anyone need more info, let me know! I would be happy to help! :)

We love WH, especially because there are 5 of us. We have been twice, a townhouse and a large pool home. Going back in July and next year October. I would be happy to add any info, but not start the thread.

Love this idea!!

We check in next Friday for 8 nights in a WH home. This will be our second stay at WH in about 2 years.

:thumbsup2

I should have a thread up tomorrow. I'm looking at some of the other resort threads to find a good order to put the information...and from there it can be just free form discussion and questions.

Of course, once I post what I have started, I would welcome additional input from those who have stayed there. :)

Just checking in to see and hopping you still have plans to set up an “official DISboards” Windsor Hills thread. I can imagine it could take several weeks to set up the OP for such an undertaking. I’m sure there are others DISers looking forward to seeing this thread.
