I'd love to hear what exercises have been working for the WISH group.
In particular....
Before I buy a Bun & Thigh Max, does anyone have any good exercises for the thighs?
I also could use upper arm exercises.

This board is great!

Thanks everyone!

Sue,
There is a group of us who love doing the Walk Away the Pounds tapes (WATP) by Leslie Sansone. Check out www.lesliesansone.com, QVC, Target, etc for her tapes or dvds. She gets you walking a 15 minute mile - quite the accomplishment for myself! I have the 1, 2, 3 mile set with the water weights. Each tape gives a pretty good upper bod workout as well. :) Especially that 3 mile one!! :earseek:

There are several other WATP threads that might give you more information. :)

Walking has slimmed my legs quite a bit.... they still need a little more, but I think that really is the best exercise for them. I also use the nautilus equipment, and the legs have definitely taken more shape since that :) :)

for the tummy...crunches...lots of them...today 375 of them

for arms weights....especially that back of the arms section!!!!

aerobic exercise will burn the fat and calories...weigths will tone those areas, but untill you get rid of what is over the muscles...you won't see the difference...does that make sence?

I agree with Glo! Walking is the best exercise for slimming the hips/legs and waist area- the key is to do it for as fast as you can as long as you can- I started just walking 30 minutes M-F and now I'm up to walking 1 hour 4 weekdays and 4 miles (about 1 hour 10 minutes) on the weekend and two days I double up and do treadmill at a faster pace to get me ready for the marathon.-- the inches have been coming off but I do have quite a bit to lose- but highly recommend whatever you choose- be diligent and consistent- it'll always work for you!

Ok I thin I need my eyes Checked!!! I thought you said EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:earseek: :earseek: Ok I have been walking doing some crunches. I am only up t about 100 a day!! As well as some leg lift things and some arm weights. And a little pilates thrown in just for fun!!!!

Thanks for the replies.
I stopped walking when it got cold here last year, which was October. It just warmed up so I started again, yesterday. Today, DD & I took on a large hill. Now that's a thigh workout!

But I am feeling great!:Pinkbounc

Now if I can only get my sneakers broken in.;)

Squats and lunges are great for your thighs and bottom!!! :)

(don't need to use the weights to get results, only do these twice a week or you will overtrain and not see the results you want). :)

Another vote for walking! :)

This is what I do on a typical day:

Rollerblade 45 min in the morning.

Pilates for my abs.

Work one body part (upper body usually) with my hand weights.

Power walk 30-40 min at night.

Anything you can get your thighs involved in is great, since they are the largest muscles in the body! :)

Have fun moving!!!

another walker

When the weather started getting nicer I was doing 14miles/week. A few wks ago when I joined WISH I increased my walking to 21miles/week. Cant really say I do 3miles/day- some days more, some less but by the end of the wk it's 21miles.

Walking is also my main exercise. I'm fortunate to live where I do, however. The weather is rarely a factor...when it's hot, I just walk early in the morning. If it's cold, I walk in the afternoon when things warm up. If it's raining, I put on rain gear. I also live in an extremely pedestrian friendly historic neighborhood...I have almost a dozen different routes, and there are at least 6 parks within a mile radius, plus walks along the river. I also have 4 different shopping centers, each with a different "flavor" from very upscale, to very "bohemian" and a little of everything in between. I even participate in a sidewalk chess game! (The homeowner has a giant magnetic board mounted on a fence; passersby move a piece and record their move in a log, and turn a sign over to indicate that it's the house's move next.)

I supplement my walks with Curves 3x/week, simple weight and band exercises, and erging the other days.

I have had great results with pilates group classes 3 to 4 times a week. In two years I have lost 35 lbs and have gone from size 14 jeans to size 8. I do combine the plates with treadmill work. I feel great. I also do yoga group classes.

I am so bad about doing exercise. I need to get back to my weight training but I just keep putting it off.

Thank you for giving me a push to get moving :)
