When it comes to cameras I know my way around but for a camcorder I have NO idea. We have a HUGE dinosaur from about 5 years ago and I want something smaller that I can toss in the camera bag while at Disney.
Any recommendations?

We just got a new one not to long ago.

I'm a Canon girl, I have to tell you. All my cameras are Canon and our prior camcorder was as well.

However, we went with Sony.

HDR-SR11 60GB High Definition Handycam® Camcorder

Love that it takes 10MP still photos even. It's a "hybrid", records mostly to the hard drive, but has a slot for a card as well.

I'm loving it so far, can't wait to take it on our first Disney trip! Good Luck!

For my next trip I specifically bought a Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2BL. It's not High Definition but it is waterproof (I already have a HD cam). Not only does it take DVD quality video at 60fps, but it also takes 8 mega-pixel still photos and records everything to a SD memory card. I actually had to buy it online from a store in Canada because it is not available in the USA yet. :confused3 Because it is waterproof I plan on taking it on all the rides with me like Splash Mountain and GRR without having to worry about getting it wet. It will also be in the GCH pool with me as well as the front row when we visit Shamoo at Sea World!

BTW. The predecessor to the one I bought is VPC-E1 which does the same video but only 6 mega-pixel stills. BHphoto.com has this camera in a package deal with a 4 gig card and ocean leash for only $349! A very sweet deal!

I have this Sony as well. It is very pricey but well worth it. We bought it to record our wedding and the output is AMAZING. Well worth the money in our minds. We cannot wait to bring it on our Honeymoon.

well mines a camra but records things to (like 4 diffrent movie modes.
Im getting it when i can it is a canon since this is what my mom in law says is good. its a new small slim one powershot a470 and were getting the bvlue one sicne red looks pink and blue looks better lol

It says it will record 45-an hour at a time i know im not gona record to much but this seems enough for us for now and its only 112-129dollers so not to bad.

3 megapixel stills, and a 60 gig hard drive. Not hd, but so what. Costco for $349 a couple of months ago. We purchased a five hour battery, and it can record 27 hours at good resolution. It is incredibly small and light. Still shaped like a camcorder, but fits in my fanny pack with the other digital camera. No tapes to buy, it just makes mpeg4 files. Plug into the computer and there you go.

Also, we got the gorillapod tripod. Google that thing. The larger size gives you a bendible buddy kind of device to grab on to things. I would guess that you could wrap it around a handhold on a ride like Matterhorn, and video yourself while "enjoying" the ride.

Hope that helps.

I would not buy anything but a sony!Get the one that has a hard/drive but also plays Mini DVD's.Ive had alot of the other camaras and Sony is the best.

I've jumped out of airplanes many times with Sony and with JVC on my head (maybe 200 times) and have never had a problem with either. I can't think of a much more harsh environment than that. The last time I did it was 9 years ago, but all market segments have improved since then, so I don't think brand will be a problem.

Canon DC330
uses DVD discs, you can use DVD-RW so you can shoot again if you need to.
can do editing and viewing right on the camera, also takes photos with Sd card. around 350.00
