We will be at POP August 22-Sept 1 and of course all the swaps are full for those dates. I was thinking of buying a small fridge and bringing it with me then bringing it home and using it in the basement. Of course, now we are flying so that is no longer an option. I am willing to pay for half of the fridge (maybe more depending on the cost) to start a new swap. I do not have the time to coordinate a swap though with working full time and having 5 kids who all seem to be involved in way to many activities. Please lmk if this is something you would like to do! I'd also like to add a toaster and coffee maker!

I would but with all of the fridges that get lost and stolen by other swaps I don't think it's worth the risk for me.

However, we will be going down October 24-November 5 and buying a fridge and having it delivered to our room (since it will be cheaper than rending one for 12 nights. I'm thinking of just leaving it there for someone on here who is there when we leave or will be arriving soon. It's not worth it to ship it home.

Per the Budget Board conditions - and DIS guidelines - no monetary transactions can be arranged here. If someone chooses to purchase an item like a small appliance, and then generously pass it on/donate it to subsequently arriving DISers and has the time to organize such a transaction or can find someone to be responsible for it, great.

please, no flames (ok, that almost guarantees flames:rotfl:), but if I worked at a Disney resort, I would be very irritated with all these swaps. I would add a surcharge for the work entailed, storage, etc, for a fridge swap, decorations swap, etc.
I would also imagine the CMS catch a lot of complaining if things don't "go right", even though none of it is their responsibility.

I thought so too, so I made sure to tip the bell people generously both at pick up and drop off.......:thumbsup2

I was thinking of doing the same thing when we go in late Nov-early Dec. If someone is willing to start a new one before we go, I'd be glad to handle the organizing of it. I just found out about this idea last night, and of course, all the swaps I found didn't have my dates available. If anyone wants to donate the fridge to get us started, just let me know and we'll get going on it.

We will be arriving on Sept.2 at Pop Century. I would be interested for sure. Thanks!

Happy to run it since I already have one going. My swap isn't available for my possible october dates so I have to look for a swap too.

My family will be at POP August 16-23...I would LOVE to participate in a swap. My 18 month old needs medication and the teeny tiny frige they gave me (for free) last time was too small for the medication and the yogurt he takes it with! LOL!
Thanks!!

I would be in for Sept.20th-24th....would not mind if a small donation happened to find its way to someone:rotfl: to get it started!

I would have loved to help out, but your dates are almost the same as mine. I think we are just going to try and wing it with no fridge this year, though the thought scares me. Luckily I am bringing another adult with me this year, so I don't have to drag the kids to the food court every time I have to get something.

Good luck!!

Now this looks as if it could be a go but I switched resortd yesterday! We are now staying at ASMu in a family suite and regular room. Having 8 people there for 10 nights, it seemed to make more sense to spend a bit extra to have some living space and not just beds. Huge bonuses being the kitchenette and queen bed for dh and I.

Good luck to all of you. If our plans change again (always a possibility) I'll pop back over here. Lol

I would be in for Sept.10th-18th.

I'm also willing to make donation to get it started!

I'd love to be part of a swap for 12/18/2010-12/25/2010 if one gets going...willing to donate a coffee maker or toaster...

I'm interested in joining. My dates are 12/4 - 12/11. :cool1:

Has anyone bought a fridge yet for this swap? We are going to Pop on Saturday, Sept. 4- Sept 7th? I will gladly buy a fridge and donate it to the swap if someone is willing to organize it. I can take the fridge down with me on the 4th. I would want to use it three more times. I will need it Nov. 27th - Dec. 5th, 2010 and Jan. 6-13th, 2011 but I am happy to donate the cost of the fridge for others to use. I just don't have time to organize the swap.

Just let me know how I should set it up and what instructions I should include and I will get the fridge swap started.

Feel free to PM me with details!! Looking forward to getting this started!!!

I'm willing to organize it. I run the not so scary fridge swap. You can get a fridge like the one I have for my swap for $79 @ Walmart. Its a nice Fridge. Now to make it not so confusing maybe you could purchase a black or silver one. You can Pm me to discuss.

I have been trying to get on a fridge swap for pop and have asked a gazillion different ones to be a back up. So... if you get this started I would like to put in my dates for September 30- October 9.

I have no idea how to run one but have particpated in one so will share some things that I thought helped make it run smoothly. The one i particpated in ran for over 2 years before I got to it, so they do work!

1-Get name and Cell phone # while there. Reservation #'s help!
-Make sure that the person behind you has this info as well as the one running the swap.

2-Put the name of the fridge and the name of next recipient on the fridge not the box. Apparantly those get ripped easily and thrown out which makes for a lost fridge.

3-Decorate it with magnets to make it easy to spot for CMs

4-Strongly encourage participants to tip the CM's. I noticed they do not always expect this and this helps ensure the fridge is looked out for.

5-Start out with some sanitary wipes, a bag with a marker and paper in it.

6-Encourage people to not leave things in the fridge. While they may think they are being nice, it usually just stinks up the fridge. This includes Brita water filters.(those things really can stink up the fridge and the room at that!)
Ok well that is all I got!

I'm going to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and see if I can find one in stainless or black. I'll PM -accountingbabe08- who has graciously offered to run the swap as soon as I have found a suitable option.

Thanks for volunteering to run the swap!!

Please stay tuned for the outcome!! If all goes smoothly, then we should have another fridge swap ready to go in just a day or two!!

If this does get up and running, I'd love to get in on it for our dates - 12/2-12/12 (or even just the majority of our time there). Thanks!
