Anyone wanna meet Azurite, my betta?

He's no kitty, but I like him anyway. Though DH insists on calling him "Cat Food", and says if I ever try to bring him home for more than a long weekend, he will *be* cat food. LOL!

he is a cutie. We had one once and he did become cat food or rather Lycker tried to turn him into a snack. Apparently they don't taste very good.

Azurite is a blue, purple, and red-ish mineral that is frequently found near malachite. Very pretty, irridescent. Copper based. We thought Azzie's colors kinda reminded us of the azurite mineral, thus his name.

Neither of my kitties see him -- he's at the office. So I get to have pet entertainment at the office, and at home. And he sure has made the day go by a lot faster the past few days!

He's beautiful Tammi. And so is his name. We used to raise Betta's and it was really interesting as the male did a ton of work taking the eggs in his mouth and pushing each one into a "nest" of bubbles.

Have you put a mirror in front of him to see him puff out? They're a really interesting fish. Hope you enjoy him!

I've tried -- DH isn't keen on the idea yet (he *HATES* fish, unless it's to eat or at a zoo-type aquarium). But, if I successfully keep Azzie at the office for, oh, 4 months, I may just go get a 10 gallon tank *anyway* for at home.

I keep forgetting to bring one in. He's set up in the office right now (smaller tank than I like, but it's adequate and he seems happy) And all he did to the CD I held up (thinking hey, it's reflective, right?) was run. LOL!

I've really been enjoying him so far. He's made the day go by a lot faster at work the rest of the week, and it's amazing how much better I feel having a new "baby" to care for.
