Anyone w/hard time deciding on 3rd child- w/Disney as a factor?

Again, thank you for all those responses!!! Its good to know I'm not alone in my "considerations". After lots of long, long talks with DH, we are just leaving it in God's hands...if it happens, it will be wonderful I'm sure, and if not, well I have no complaints here. The funny thing is that we've put off "trying" before because of a Disney trip, and didn't want to talk about "trying" because of our impending Feb. trip - and we're already planning late 2012 or early 2013 trip, so we figure if we keep going at this rate, we'll never get down to "trying" for another...so we'll just let nature take it's course and see what that brings us!!! DH doesn't want to parent forever and I can relate to that (although lately he is the one bringing up a 4th!). I told him let's just think forward to #3 and go from there!

Yeah, take it one pregnancy at a time! Like I said in my earlier post, you never know when 'just one more' suddenly becomes 2! As we get older, the better the chance for hyperovulation & getting more than 1.

My DH was the one saying just one more & I was more of the opinion, "lets just see how the next pg goes, I wouldn't mind a 3rd......" Well I got my 3rd, just not how I might have imagined & without poor DH having the opportunity to veto it.

We have three, 6, 4 (almost 5) and 2.5. Disney was a consideration when we decided to have #3! We thought a little bit about hotel rooms that would accomodate our family, but more about the uneven number on the rides We laughed at ourselves for even having the conversation. I am glad to know we are not the only ones. In less than two weeks we are taking our last trip when we are considered a family of four. Our planning will change after this point, and our trips will get more expensive, but I would make the same choice in a heartbeat. The traveling part is not too bad at all, but at this point neither of us would be willing to travel with all three by ourselves! Good luck in your decision making!

For us it wasn't specifically Disney but just travel/cost and having babies in tow that were the main factors. I guess since our normal vacation right now IS to Disney, that does play a part in it.

I had planned my son--but also to do the Disneyland half--I held out but then cancelled the month before.

There will be other races! (though boo--it was the inaugural for me...oh well.)

thank you! yes, there will be other races. i really want my first to be at Disney. so, i'll just wait until i'm ready. i did dream (the other night) that i was out running with a huge belly!

if i had been in better shape, i might have been able to do it. but i was pretty sick during the first trimester (worse than i ever was with my older two). so, i wasn't doing any exercise at all.

I want to make sure we have an even number of kids (2 preferably) so that it will make travelling to Disney either. People IRL tend to think I am crazy for having that reasoning. Glad to see there are others like me on here!

Its not just traveling to Disney that makes it tough for a family of 5. Its just about everywhere. The traveling world is made for a family of four.

My friend has 3 kids and I was planning a trip to Universal for them. Same thing. That 3rd kid, really adds alot of money to the trip.

And yes, traveling was a big concern when we decided how many kids DH and I were going to have. We were just lucky that we were blessed with a boy and a girl.

Yeah, definitely. It has been a factor in *my* decision. I can't even fathom airfare for 3 kids!!

That and I like the 1 boy, 1 girl, 1:1 kid-to-parent ratio. I don't think DH wants a 3rd, period. I'm not really sure I do either. I mean sure I'd be thrilled if for some crazy odd reason, the BC failed and we were preggers, sure. But to "try" for a 3rd, I don't think I will. OK, I won't.

I have 3 kids & my 3rd was an oops. I know people say there is no such thing as an oops but *I* thought it was a safe time to do the deed since AF was due that weekend. Boy was I wrong.

Anyways, Disney did come into my mind after that surpise came about. I come from a family of 5 so I guess I was used to it as did my dh (I have 2 sisters & he has 2 brothers).

We did take a trip to Disney & a trip to Six Flags since having our youngest. It was no big deal. I have my 2 older ones (they are currently 9 & 7) ride with each other, my dh takes our youngest if the ride is a 2 per row & I gladly sit alone. My dh & I sit between the 2 kids that are alone though.

My only thought into kids after having my 3rd was "I am so glad I had a tubal with the 3rd because I wouldn't be able to stay at the Polynesian in one room with 4 kids."

DH and I have been discussing having a 2nd child (our son is 3). We want them to be (roughly) 5 years apart...however, if we were to stick with that, it would mean taking an infant to WDW next year OR being pregnant WHILE at WDW next year. I (personally) don't want either as we travelled with DS when he was 14 months old and 18 months old...and it was rather a hassle to pack and haul diapers, baby food, toys, etc.

The more I think about it...the more seriously I think I am happy with my little family of 3. It also doesn't hurt that as a family of 3, it'd be more affordable to actually do a WDW trip every year, rather than every 2 or 3 years if we had a 2nd child.

Thats so funny we are talking aboutt the same thing. We have two girls 8 and 4 and would love another, but Disney would cost more with another. We have taken our oldest 5 times and my little one 3 we have booked a trip for this December and this is exciting it will be our first trip ever without diapers or a stroller! so we are waiting till December. Who know maybe our third will be a souvenir

I was just curious if Disney has ever factored into anyone's decision to have another child - just as kind of a fun question. DH and I have two adorable girls, ages 6 and 4 and both DH and I LOVE Disney and had taken many trips prior to having kids and REALLY could not wait until they were old enough to take. They had their first trip at ages 5 and 3 and we are going again next month and are so excited!!! We have recently had serious talks about having a third child (w/not so serious talks occuring for the past 3 years!!!) and although we have recently decided that we will stick with two for now, I find it funny that we often talk about our ability to take frequent, and nice trips to Disney as a reason to stick with two...Obviously there are many other factors to consider, but does anyone think it's hilarious that every time we discuss it - the "Disney Factor" creeps in?? Whoever heard of such a thing!!!

Interesting question. Nope, we've never considered Disney. We've considered college savings accounts, retirements, weddings, world travel, health insurance, but never Disney. We've always enjoyed Disney, but never gave it a consideration when choosing whether to have a child .

I have to say no..we only live 2 hrs from Disney, we have AP , so we go whenever we want. BUt, I have 4 kids, oldest to youngest is 14 yrs apart. They are all 4-5 yrs apart, we didnt plan it that way, just happened. We never thought about having a better time, we share, we take turns, and we still have fun. Even better, bring grandma with us!! :O)
We had our last baby at the park at 4 months, he was an angel! NOw, he will be 16 months this next trip.LOL!! This is when the fun begins..lol!!

So far, Disney hasn't stopped me from wanting another kid, but it definitely made me consider postponing having another kid for another year or so.

I just booked our very first WDW trip for December. At first, my parents were planning to come along so DH and I can get on all the rides while DS is with grandparents. I don't want to be pregnant and worry about which rides I can get on, so Disney comes first, second baby comes second. Few weeks ago, my parents backed out on me, so now I can go back to my original plan on trying for baby #2 this summer since DH and I won't be getting on thrill rides.

I am currently pg with #3 (due in April). We are currently a family of 4. When he started talking about #3 Disney did come up. Actually, it was my dh that brought it up. we are fortunate that we own DVC points and that we bought enough for always staying in a 2 bedroom unit. The cost is going to go up, but dh is great with money so it's a little easier for us to save up to buy park tickets. We also have an Airtran Visa and I can't tell you how much this has saved us in plane tickets. We put everything we buy on it and pay it off at the end of the month.

We are actually going to Orlando at the end of August and our baby will be 4mo. We are renting a crib from abbf and we will get all of our baby supplies while we are down there. For us, traveling with an infant is not a big deal.

Ha, Disney was a factor in our family-building. We took two awesome trips with the 2 kids (1&3, and then almost 2 &4 year olds). And I was so excited to start traveling again and considered only having the 2 since it's easy to travel with a family of 4. But I knew I wasn't done, and decided to go for #3, and surprise, ended up with surprise twins! So now I have 4 kids and as a family of 6, I am REALLY limited at WDW! Oh well, still happy I did it, just makes traveling really hard!

When we were discussing having a 4th, Disney did come into the discussion (and won!!). Things are much easier having an even number of kids. Nobody feels left out! We have an even split when we have to divide the big kids and little kids. I think an odd number of kids would have been difficult, since so many rides can fit two etc.

We're happy with four now!! It is funny how that magical place can help to make/break a decision.

This post made me smile! I have two kids right now and there's a 12 year age gap between them thanks to some hefty fertility issues on my part and some minor fertility issues on DH's part. It took us 10 years to conceive our youngest and he was so worth the wait! I always wanted 3 kids ~ DH wanted 2 but he's always wanted to have a daughter, so it wasn't hard to talk about trying again for baby #3 when our youngest was a year old. Of course with our history, we knew there was no guarantee that we'd get pregnant at all, let alone have a girl. It took almost a year, but thanks to a wonderful doctor we are expecting baby #3 AND baby #4 in September. We find out next week the gender of the twins but I already told DH there will be no more babies for me, even if the twins are boys! We have talked about future Disney trips though, so I'm glad to know I'm not alone! With the age gap between our oldest and the twins, it's unlikely we'll go to Disney as a family of 6, but I have wondered how we'll manage it as a family of 5, and also with there being a 2 1/2 year age difference between DS2 and the twins. I guess we'll have to put more time into picking our accomodations at Disney, but I'm guessing that will be case whenever we travel and stay in a hotel.

We had 2, and took them to Disney for the first time when they were 10 and 12, and I was unexpectedly pregnant with the third.

The next trip was when the youngest was 4 years old, the older two were 15 and 17.

Now, the oldest is 28, and pays for her own Disney trips. The second will be 26 in a few days, has her own child and is again, on her own for a Disney trip.

The youngest has been to Disney several times since the trip with all 5 of us when she was 4. She has been raised as almost an only child because there's such a big gap between her and her sisters. There was really only a few years when we had all 5 to deal with. The oldest graduated high school the same day the youngest graduated kindergarten.

When we found ourselves expecting the third, Disney was the last thing on our mind.
