Anyone Used the DVC Discount at Ale and Compass?

In the latest Disney Files magazine, it states that DVC members get 10% off plus a free dessert per table. Has anyone done this? I am really wanting to try this restaurant. I'm debating on doing the CP dining package versus without it in order to get the discount and free dessert. The only difference will be just one dessert instead of two (which isn't a problem for us) and no guaranteed seating at the CP. It will save me almost $50 if I don't do the CP package. I've done the CP both ways. We did not have any problem getting a seat without it, but it wasn't a popular narrator. Who knows who it will be this time. If anyone has done the discount and free dessert, did you get to choose which dessert you wanted? We really want to try the 12-layer chocolate cake. I'm wondering if that is an option.
