Didn't know if this was budget, transportation, The West (really really west :) )

Airfare is my big hold up right now and I am seriously considering this cause I've gotten stellar deals on cars and hotels through Priceline.

As long as you have enough time to potentially lose the 2 travel days, Priceline can be a great option. You won't end up with longer layovers than expected. The only issue is that you might be booked on a late flight out and or and early flight home, thus losing 2 days. On a 2 week trip that isn't as important as a a weekend getaway. Look at the available fights from your home airport. If there are only 2 flights and each leaves in the morning, then you know it would be one of the 2. If there are 100 flights leaving from 5 am to 11 pm, you are more up in the air.
