Anyone used Prepaid AmEx card?

Just curious to know if anyone has had any experience with this card. My DM doesn't have a credit card. I am taking her on her first cruise and was thinking about getting her one of these instead of her carrying cash. If the card gets lost or stolen, it can be replaced.

I would like to know too....I was planning on getting one for my trip next June too...but I read on another site that Disney Cruise Line didnt accept these due to they had to call and veryify every transaction????? I hope thats not the case--I was very interested in getting one of these. Does anyone know????

Why not just use traveler's cheques? They are more widely accepted and can be replaced as well. Also, I believe the ship will cash them at no charge.

I don't know much about the Amex Travelfunds card except they cost $14.99 to purchase (of course reuseable, but still expensive). I would think that a lot of people would lose or misplace theirs when the $$ is gone which means you would have to purchase another one.

American Express is also not as widely accepted as Visa and Mastercard which could prove difficult.

Just my thoughts.

My mother is rather stubborn. I figured that if I tried to give her cash or traveler's cheques, she would refuse. If I order a prepaid credit card with her name printed on it, she will have to take it.
