Does anyone use the Trend Micro™ PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006?

I use Panda on my desktop and was going to purchase it for the new laptop. But the laptop came with PC-cillin already on it. I have never used it and don't have a clue if it is any good or not.

I use it. Their customer service is very good, the updates come in all the time. I can usually get a live person to ask questions of and always get prompt responses from e-mail inquiries. Within the past two weeks or so, PC-cillin has saved my computer from getting infected with the "Bagle" e-mail virus :thumbsup2 .

Last year, one of *their* updates caused problems for their users  . They made it right, however, by adding two years onto my contract length.

Take a look at their website, they even offer a free web-based PC-scan. You could take a look at the site, maybe try the scan, see if you like it.

Thank you for the insight.

I have used Panda for a few years now, after having been a Norton user for many. Norton, over the years, has gotten horrendous. If I got a new PC with another service, I would uninstall it and reinstall my Panda. JMO.

We've had it now for almost 2 years. I think it's awesome! We originally had Norton which was recommended and came installed on our new Dell. Over the first year, we had nothing but problems with Norton-our computer continually crashed and I finally hired a computer expert to come out and defrag the entire system for the 3rd time since we couldn't get Norton to uninstall. He highly recommended Trend-Micro and helped me download it. They are continuously doing updates for you and you can set it to scan as often as you'd like. I will NEVER use Norton again....

So is Trend-Micro the same as Norton?

And also the guy at the store told me I had to buy another copy of the Panda Software. That I could not use my current software for my second computer. Is that true?

No, Norton is not the same as Trend, and Trend is good also, from what I have read.

When I bought my new computer last weekend the computer geeks at best buy recommended Trend Micro™ PC-cillin™ Internet Security 2006. I have run both McAfee and Norton in the past and this is much better.

Dan,

Do you happen to know the answer to this?

You need a seperate license for each copy of Panda you are running. Without it, it won't update properly and what good is AV without updates? This is the same as most software -- typically it is licensed for one system only -- Windows products are a perfect example. I have been running Panda for over three years on my personal system and wouldn't consider anything else. Additionally, if you want multiple licenses (or multi-year licenses) Panda will offer a discount -- but you have to call and order it over the phone versus online.

We use E-Trust at work and I hate it... but there are three machines which do not fall under the IT guy's normal domain and we run Panda on them. Last year the main office had significant virus problems on two occasions but the machines running Panda were fine.

What S of E said.

My office networked PC's are also E-Trust, can't stand it, same as S of E.

Great. Thanks
I already went and bought it again. So maybe when I renew I will check into the extra Licenses. I did notice on several box they were offering licensed copies for up to 3 computers but not on the Panada stuff so I was not sure that they would do that.

Thanks for all the GREAT information!
