I found a little starter set of silicone pans on clearance at Target a few days ago and had to buy it. DD and I are going to make a cake this afternoon and I have a few questions. Do you use the same temp and time as with a regular metal or glass pan? Once you get the batter in the pan is it sturdy enough to make it into the oven or is it going to fold in half when I pick it up and spill all over?

Thanks!

Amy

I use them and treat them exactly the same as regular bakeware. They still need to be prepared exactly as the recipe calls for. The pan does stay sturdy enough, I have found, with batter. Also, the first time you use them, there is a bit of an odor from the oven- it is harmless and doesn't affect the taste at all. Good Luck!

I use them also. I put the pan on a cookie sheet before it goes in the oven. All I have to do is pick up the pan, so no worry about the pan folding over or something, plus if anything overflows it's on the pan, not in the bottom of my oven.

I love my silicone bakeware. They cook so well and you can just pop them in the dishwasher to clean with some pans you don't want to do that becuase it could take the coating off. I use a pan underneath mine as well it's pretty sturdy in the oven though.
