Anyone use provera to start a period?

I was put on provera to try to start my period, but am curious to know if it should have started while I was on the 5 day administration of provera, or if it will be after I am finished with the dosage. Any one know?

It's been a few years since I took it, but I believe it was a few days after I finished the pills that I started.

Not to scare you or anything, but you might have more cramping and pain with this one. I thought it was just me because it had been so long since I had one, but the doctor said that some people do experience more.

it is the "withdrawl" from the hormone that brings on the period...you should have had a pregnancy test prior to starting the Provera if there is a chance you may be pregnant.....

Ditto what the above posters said ... yes, it happens usually 5-10 days after you stop the provera and also, usually have few more cramps.

That's what they told me, too-possible more cramping and heavier flow, 5-10 days. However, in my case, I waited almost 20 days after ending the provera and STILL nothing happened. Because by then it was so close to a big weekend trip, the doctor gave me another medication to supposedly keep me from getting my period for about 10 days. Know what happened then? That's when I got my period! Kind of put a little "crimp" in my Schlitterbahn plans. So provera isn't a guarantee. Sometimes your body has a mind of its own.
