Does it work for you?

I've been thinking about trying it, but I don't want to get hooked into that automatic shipment thing they do. I wish you could buy it in a store.

I've never used it, but I did see a kiosk in the mall that sells it. It wasn't a store, but one of those carts in the mall outside in the main areas. :)

It really is great and as strange as it sounds, I can feel a difference the second I put it on!!!! It feels soooooo nice! :cloud9: The automatic thing really is great and you can EASILY cancel or suspend the shipments at anytime! :thumbsup2

Alot of the bigger malls do have the kiosks now. When you call to order you can also tell them you only want the one shipment. They are glad for a sale. I have used it repeatedly. I even sent a batch to my SIL across the country. I never would have tried it because of being "afraid" of TV products, but a girl I worked with had SEVERE acne and one day I looked at her and thought "wow" her skin is really improving. Having intermittent episodes of breakouts myself I know how self conscious it can make you feel, and I knew she would appreciate someone noticing the difference so I complimented her. She then said she had actually tried that "Pro-Active" stuff. ( This was like 6 yrs ago) It has actually saved me trips to the dermatologist when the breakouts come. It really does work better than anything topical I have used. Either store bought or prescription. The only thing better are medications taken internally prescribed by a doctor, in my experience. I really like it so much I almost wrote them. LOL But I like to complain better.

I ordered it from QVC and they allow a one time only purchase.

I like it but i don't think I'll buy it again. It's expensive and my break-outs wern't that bad. But I do like it.

I used it for like 5 years at the end of high school and in college. Then my skin just stopped breaking out and I don't use it anymore but it works really well!

I used it in my mid-twenties and it was the only thing that worked for me! :thumbsup2

I used it for awhile. I didn't really see the rsults I thought I would or should.

I would recomend going to the dermatologist and getting on Retin A. It's a wonderful product and most insurances cover it. It cost's less for me than the Proactiv and is more effective. :goodvibes

This isn't a comment on Proactive, but on acne. I had acne until my mid-thirties, when it sunk in that my father and sister were both allergic to orange juice (digestive sensitivity) so I cut out orange juice and haven't had acne since. Although I do have small break-outs if I drink a lot of OJ when I have a cold. So my suggestion is to consider whether you have a food sensitivity of some kind. I had seen a dermatologist, by the way, and was prescribed a topical antibiotic that did help keep inflamations down and another skin lotion. But cutting out OJ cured me. Oh yes, I almost forgot, I told my son about it and he no longer drinks OJ, and his acne has gone away. So it must be a family sensitivity.

I tried Proactive. It helped some, but what I found recently that has made all the difference in the world, is the book "The Acne Cure". I can't think of the author at the moment. Uses basic over the counter stuff, used in a certain manner. Skin softer after the first day. Brighter, less blah looking. Skin essentially clear after two weeks. I think that in the four weeks I've used it so far, I have had like one new pimple.

I haven't used it, but I know several models that swear by the stuff. It really does work. I've seen what it does for them, and I'd sugest it to anyone.

Thanks for the advice! I got The Acne Cure from the library now I'm trying to figure out what products to buy. What do you use for the Glycolic Acid cream? The book says it should be between 8% and 10% with no other active ingredients. Everything I'm finding has Alpha Hydroxy. Since it's working for you, would you mind telling me what products you use. please:)

DD's pediatrician recommended the Walmart version of Proactive. He said it's basically the same stuff with less advertising! We haven't tried it yet.

I also use the Walmart and Target generic version (Acne Free) in a yellow and white box. I was able to stop using the 3 prescription meds the dermatologist had me on. It is AWESOME!

I had good skin in high school and have hormonal breakouts now, at 33. I liked Proactiv but it is just too drying on my dry skin. Now I don't know what to use. Everything else breaks me out but doesn't dry me out, and Proactiv clears my skin but is too drying. What's a girl to do??

Just a warning: ProActive will bleach your linens!!!

I did the whole regimen before bed and woke up to a bleached pillow. Stupid me didn't read the fine print :)

It worked for me and I use it about once a month.

Acne Free will bleach linens and towels...my dh bought me a nice extra long towel set for Christmas and I bleached out 2 of the towels already by drying my face on them.

OT...Interestingly, my boss told me a story a couple of years ago about filing a claim with his insurance company for the replacement of his carpet b/c his teenage son would lay on the carpet and watch TV after using acne medicine (benzyl peroxide). The carpet bleached out there and the insurance company paid for new carpet! But they wouldn't pay for our flood in flatland Nebraska b/c it was an Act of God...that is how the story came up to begin with :-(

That's what I use- same ingredients (Benzoyl Peroxide). It's called AcneFree. It's about $19/box here. I bought it after a customer at Wal-Mart (i used to work there) was looking for it- she used to use Proactive, then tried this stuff, and said it worked just as well- and I decided to try it since she had such good skin!
