Anyone use points to stay at DL?

I'll say up front that I know how expensive this is, points-wise.

Has anyone ever used their points to stay at the Disneyland Hotel? What tower did you get assigned to? What did you think of the experience?

We have stayed at GC twice. Great resort. On par with AKL and WL at WDW for great theming. We are staying again this September on points. The cost of our points ended up about 20% less than the best rate I could find for the resort.

I might have done better renting my points and paying cash, but the difference was just not meaningful to us.

We stayed at the Grand Californian on points too, and loved it! I'm not much for renting my points -- I saved a lot with a CM dsicount when I bought DVC and while the extra money might be nice, I bought DVC to make vacations easier to plan. A five minute phone conversation and we were booked! A little perk for DVC members going to DL -- the parking/health club fee was included when staying on points.

We used points for staying 2 nights last June. We were in the Bonita tower (I believe). Our room overlooked a parking lot but was very comfortable. The main reason we chose this hotel was for the Neverland themed pool for our kids who were 7, 5 and 1 1/2. We had already spent a week in a good neighbor hotel enjoying the parks and 2 nights in Carlsbad to visit Legoland. The last 2 nights were to relax, swim, visit Downtown Disney and have breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen.

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel on points in 2003. We were on the Concierge level. The hotel is great, but our room was small, which was disappointing because we had read on these boards about the large rooms. In our rooms there was very little additional room around the 2 queen beds. Quite a difference from the BWV 1BR we're used to for our family of 4. Fortunately, the concierge lounge was great & allowed us space to relax.

We stayed at the Grand Californian on points and I loved the location. Close proximity to Downtown Disney and right at the entrace for California Adventure! Would go again in a heartbeat!
