Anyone use Passporter?

Has anyone used Passporter to help plan their vacation? If so, was it helpful?

Do you upgrade every year or just use a previous year's issue.

Passporter is probably the best entry-level guide out there. It has the typical overviews of all park attractions, restaurants and resorts (including opinions from one of the author's children). It's also a good planning tool with individual forms on which you can record daily activities, PS numbers, and so forth.

If you are planning your first trip to WDW in 3+ years, or if you are sorely in need of a tool to keep your trip info organized, then you might want to consider the Passporter.

But if you are a DVC member that takes annual trips and doesn't feel a need to over-plan your trip, you may be disappointed with the Passporter.

For Christmas I received the 2004 Unofficial Guide to WDW. I found it to be a VERY nice upgrade over the 2002 version. And, at 800-900 pages in length (vs 300 in the Passporter), there is a much greater likelihood that you will discover a few more tips and tricks that you didn't previously know.

I used it for 2 trips within one year... the pockets were nice for keeping receipts, and writing down stuff, that helped us to plan for the next trip... the maps are nice to have, and all the personal emails, phone# and addresses we wrote in those pages proved helpfull...
I kept copies of our PS Ressies and conf#'s in the pockets for each days' activities.. Tickets and everything were always at my fingertips...

PS, I would also agree the unofficial guyide is a great resource... If you are like me, you will end up buyuing both, plus Birnbaums, and Birbaum's for Kids and take advice from each...

Agree with above posters. Actually, I am one of those disney addicts that has to have numerous guidebooks; as soon a sI know I'm going, I want a "new" book. I bought my first Passporter last year, and really thought it was well done. Personally, I didn't use the pocket pages, but the information in the book was well put-together and very helpful....even to a seasoned Disney veteran.

I like to use it to record everything we have done and look back at it and remember things we may not have had photos of but still added to a great time on our trip.

It's only the very best planner out there IMHO!

I have the Deluxe version and get the refill every year. The 2004 version is awesome! Plus, they have update pages throughout the year that you can download for free so you have all the latest info on WDW!!!!

I like the Unofficial Guide for detailed info and the Passporter to help keep me organized. I like planning and it also helps to build and keep the excitement while I impatiently wait for the magic to start.

I use it every trip, also. I have everything in those pockets! I put the cash I need to pay for the towncar drivers in envelops and put them in a pocket. I have my reservations in there, and our park tickets. I keep the receipts of our meals so I can check when we get home to see how much we spent, then try to budget that the next trip.

But my favorite reason why I love the passporter is for the resort maps, and the open times on the restaurants. Very helpful while planning our days.

I think the Passporter is great. It has more detailed information than any book I've found. It even has the room size by aquare foot for all the resorts. Most books don't go into that much detail. I also like the maps of each resort, and the parade routes, the pockets, the space for notes, etc...

I buy the UG every year. I plan to use the passporter in April to keep everything together. After the trip I'll have everything in place so it'll be easy to get to when I start planning the budget for the next trip.

We are going to be taking our first trip in May so naturally I bought every guidebook there was available...

I have to say that Passporter is my favorite and I will be bringing it with me on our trip. I have already stored tons of important things in it and have found the large fold out color maps to help quite a bit...

The one book I found fairly useless was the "Guide to Disney with Children" the stuff was soooo outdated!

I buy a new one every trip. I use it to keep track of things while I'm planning the trip, I use it at WDW to help me remember the things I planned and make notes about the trip, and I use it after the trip to look back over what we did later. I like having one from each trip because I use it as a scrapbook of that trip.

This is the second trip that I'm using the Passporter. I got the deluxe version for my last trip and just did the 2004 update. I find it a great source of information and a great way to keep everything that I need in one place. I gave one as a Christmas gift to my hairdresser for her trip last year and she loved it too.

I HIGHLY recommend it.

I like the Passporter too. We went twice in 2001 and just bought new pockets for my Deluxe version for the second trip. I'll be going twice this year too and bought a 2004 update (didn't need a new binder!). I really like the lists, worksheets and the pockets. I also buy the Unofficial Guide and really like the 2004 update.

I'm sure that makes the Passporter very useful, but I just wanted to add that the Unofficial Guide has square feet, AND room layout diagrams. Also, parade routes, best viewing spots, etc. I just don't hink any other book comes close to the level of detail -- and it had enough on USO for our 3 days at Universal, too.

Also, the UG 2004 now has pages at the back to cut out. They include touring plans, and individual park pages with lists of rides, (including special comments like height restrictions) and restaurants (including brief ratings). I can't imagine lugging an entire book to the parks in addition to my children's gear, so I love these pages.

PassPorter is the only guide/planning book I use now. Been using PassPorter for every trip since 1999, I have 10 of them now.
