Has anyone ever tried this carrier for bigger babies? My baby will be just shy of 1 when we go in January. She's not walking yet and too big for the Baby Bjorn. I will have a stroller but thought this might be nice for waiting in line or if she gets cranky and wants to be held.

Ultra Easy Baby Carrier

We just got back from our trip (11/1-11-8). I purchased one for our 7 mo. DD. I tried it out before we went and liked it. However, I did not use it as much as I thought for a few reasons:

I was expecting the weather to be cooler the week we were there. It was 85 degrees and humid. The baby was much more comfortable in the stroller with the little fan we attached to it than in my arms with the sun beating down on her. She napped or observed everything quite happily from here.

Since the baby sits on your hip, it was a little awkward to wear it on some of the rides that have the lap bar. Plus, I nurse, so some of these rides were the perfect place to feed the baby without having to separate from the rest of the family while I went to one of the babycare centers. Since we never had to wait in a line longer than 10-15 minutes I didn't think it was worth it to put her in the carrier and then take her out.

Now here are reasons I would use it:

I think if my DD was a little older I might have gotten more use out of it. At this age they are happy just sleeping. I think this would be handy for the young toddlers who always want to be in Mom's arms.

If the lines were longer I would have been more comfortable with her in the carrier than switching from hip to hip.

I did actually use it with my 3 year old for a little while when she wanted to be carried. Yes, she was heavy after awhile, but taking the weight off my arms was great.

So in answer to your question, I think your baby would be a good age for it. The carrier is small when folded so it won't take up a lot of space, it should not be super hot when you go so you'll both be comfortable if she's in it. For $24.95 it's worth it!

Have a great time!!:::MinnieMo

i have one and used it at wdw last january when ds was 9 months. at the time he probably weighed about 25lbs (big kid :eek: )

i mainly used it while waiting in line/preshows and it worked out great. ::yes::

have fun! january is a great time to go!

Check into the hip hammock also (www.hiphammock.com). I love mine. I would guess that I would prefer the hip hammock over Ultra EZ Baby Carrier because the hip hammock is on the side. DD just sits on my hip. I find it much more natural and have never had problems with her hurting my back since I switched from the front carrier. It is easy to lift her in and out to get on a ride (at DL at least the CMs have become very particular about babies facing forward) or to breast feed.
