I need to renewal. Anyone that has it have you renewed it and how much was it to renewal? I know they will price match other sites. Has anyone found any good deals? I've had Norton for years and I love it so I want to stick with them. TIA!

we have norton security software installed on one computer

when it is time to be renewed ...

I will compare the norton dot com price to Amazon - Best Buy - Target - Walmart -

Costco and ebay.

With ebay I will look at the *completed* prices (same item already sold)

and also the *buy it now* and *time: ending soonest* prices.

I have McAfee on my other 2 computers (it is included with our Cox internet) service.

McAfee works just fine for me. The norton is for a family member who needs a easy

installation process. If I am looking for a *price match*

I would do a Google search *Best price of a Norton Internet Security 360*

Possibly a Black Friday Deal would be the Best.

If I pay for it with a Premium Credit Card I would have Price Protection

for 90 days after the purchase. It is *Best* to read the Terms and Conditions

of the Benefit .. before making the purchase.

Sometimes I will Buy a older version at a discount price

of course that is not a option at norton dot com.

do you have cable or Fios? I get Norton for free from Comcast, my sis gets an anti virus program for free from Fios. When I had RCN I got MacAfee for free.

On Norton chat I was told they will be getting rid of the 360. I called the 1-800 and talked to agent. The 360 is still being sold but not listed on the site. She did say eventually they will get rid of 360 and upgrade to the deluxe. She offered me the 360 so I got it. I tried looking for a cheaper price like previous years and they price match it but this year I couldn't find any deals. She gave me a 50% discount but the price is what I was hoping to get and she must have seen previous years that I price match it. I have so much going on right now that I wanted to get the same program and not have to deal with downloading anything new or getting familiar with it, My computer and 2 laptops are now protected :)

but they are pushing the new updated deluxe

Thoughts....
  • Norton 360 was retired in 2014... Norton Security is the latest product. Then again, when I compare features.... they are very similar. http://www.nortonsecurityonline.com/norton-security-vs-old-products.html
  • internet provided free products may be limited to virus protection.... no firewall features
  • I like to purchase a brand new Norton product around Black Friday and Christmas for the best prices.... it's even cheaper than renewal.
  • love the 10 device package that covers everyone and mobile devices.

They kept saying the delux covers smart phones and tablets. I told them We have apple iphone and tablet. Hubby said Apple has stuff on their own protection. Is this true otherwise I could have got the deluxe for same price and on 5 devices. I just hate having to get use to new programs or downloading.

People PAY for AV? :rolleyes1

Huh, I left that train at the station when Norton destroyed one of my desktops back 20 years ago (a well-known issue they were having).

Even Windows Defender, which comes "free" in Windows 10 is NOW actually a good program.

  • yes, Apple products does have a lower risk than Android and Windows products. Does anyone remember "flashback" back in 2012? That totally changed Apple's marketing. http://www.zdnet.com/article/flashback-malware-exposes-big-gaps-in-apple-security-response/
  • the question is whether free offers the same protection as paid providers. When malware is identified.... why are paid products where the media likes to go for answers?
  • I know Norton scan's my Android products, but I'm not sure if Norton has the ability to scan iOS products.

Paid providers are still better than free offers. Back in the days of Windows XP, i used to run free scanners all the time. I was gifted a copy of a paid provider and it actually got a few bugs the free one misses. Now and days, built in systems run the system smooth. You most likely need a malware scanner instead. but honestly, the best virus scanner is just using your common sense... :]

No program is 100 percent, paid for or not. All of them will miss some things.

That's why I have a realtime AV program and then scan once a week with Malwarebytes.

Between the two of them, I am pretty safe.

I'm a software developer and just use Windows Defender that comes with Windows 10 now. It's free. It doesn't give you constant pop-ups to upgrade you to stuff you don't need. Gmail and Chrome has virus and scam protection built in. Most importantly though, BACK-UP! One copy of something is only temporary. Get an external drive and also use CrashPlan or Carbonite. If you get a virus, just format, install your back-up software and restore.

If your service is thru Comcast it is free. It is included.
