Anyone use K tape when touring the parks?

As we're all aware, touring the parks involves walking several miles a day and also standing on tired, sore feet for all those must-do attractions.

Has anyone tried using K tape on your feet to help? If so, is there a website you recommend that shows how to wrap your feet the correct way to ease foot pain?

Thanks!:flower1:

Kinesiology tape. Physical therapists use it for support of certain muscles and ligaments. I'm not a PT, so I'm sure there is a lot more to it, but it seems to help a lot of people.

The KT tape website has demo application videos - you can search for where you need to apply the tape (knee, ankle, etc.)

I have a couple of rolls packed for our upcoming trip to use on a nagging ankle injury.

I use it at times for Achilles tendinitis and it helps. My understanding is that how you tape depends on what condition it is being used for though, just fya.

Yes, I love KT tape! I have severe Plantar Fasciitis and I use it all of the time when I go to Disneyland. We are going to Disney World for the first time in a few weeks and I will definitely be using it. The KT tape website has video tutorials for each problem area.

I'm not sure why I never thought of this, but thank you for asking this OP! I have a lovely knee injury and am just trying some KT tape, but it never crossed my mind to bring it to use in the parks as well.

It really depends on what you have. If it is just soreness form all the walking KT tape is not really going to happen.

I use to use KT tape for my knee. I messed up a tendon in the knee in college and so for a long time if there was a storm system or anything that changed the pressure in the air I got crippling pain. KT tape helped a lot because I could have the knee supported similar to my knee brace with out having to wear the uncomfortable thing.

When it was just for soreness I found the tape did nothing. It only worked if I would have wrapped or used a support for the aliment to begin with. Now I have to use it when my wrist issues flair up. Much better than using the braces I have.

Like KT tape or Rock tape?

I haven't used it in advance of just foot pain from walking, but if you have an issue that flares that's more than just soreness, it would likely help with that. I have an ancient (and I thought it was healed! I had PT and everything!) "fibularis" injury (used to be called the peroneous longus and brevis but the name has changed) that pops up, so if I tape for that then I feel better in everything I do on my feet.

And the KT website has great video tutorials. But you need to know what you're taping for.

I don't have any problems, like ankle or knee. After about 3 days in the parks, my feet are always sore. I wear good walking shoes but after awhile nothing seems to help. I was hoping maybe K tape might give added support and ease my tired, aching dogs a bit :worried:.

Thanks for the responses!

If you decided to use K Tape, I would try it out well in advance of your trip. When it comes to Disney, its best to try new strategies for feet and shoes well in advance!

Hi Kwdsue,

Kinesiology tape definitely has its place in relieving foot and arch pain. SpiderTech Kinesiology Taping actually offers pre-cuts that are specific to different body parts. They have a Calf and Arch Spider and an Ankle Spider which I believe would best suit your situation. www.spidertech.com

the best thing I've found was a correctly sized shoe with an insert that specifically helps me. Head to the closest dr schools machine in your area, stand on the thing and get the recommendation for which to purchase. Try it out around home in your existing shoes and see how it works for you. for me, it was life changing. for everyday and not just at disney. It made disney wonderful and never had sore feet. sure I was sore and working muscles but it wasn't problems with my feet.

I went in July and I have osteoarthritis in one knee that's painful. While I am on some anti-inflammatory medicine and tramadol for pain, I also use KT and decided to start fresh there, and didn't wear it for the airplane trip. We walked around that night for a restaurant, etc. and I really feel the difference when I am not wearing the tape. Up the next morning and put the KT on! It held up pretty well for having sweat and sunscreen around it !! :-)
