Did you have any problems getting reimbursed? Is this something that is a legitimate use of the funds? Would it most likely require a doctor's note? I will check with the benefit company but wondering if it is even possible.

For those who are wondering HFSA= Healthcare Flexible Spending Account

Just curious

I am curious about this..because I am hoping to receive reimbursement as well when we go in January..

Below is a link to the IRS publication 502 which describes covered medical expenses..Under Wheelchair they list something called an autoette..I googled that and it looks like an ancient  ECV..So I'm hoping that is what they are referring to.

I hope someone else who has more info will reply..

I would say the IRS needs to get someone to google some more up to date references for them - that autoette has not been made since 1970!!!!
It was an early type of motorized assistive device used by people with disabilities.

No one has ever posted about using HFSA for ECV or wheelchair rental.
Besides the benefit company, you could also try contacting some of the places the rent ECVs and wheelchairs.
I would expect that you would need a prescription that indicates you need the ECV and why you need the ECV. THat would be your proof that renting it was medically necessary.

Was just wondering if there was ever a solution to this... the same issue has come up for myself and doing a search has brought me to this old posting.
