Anyone use Electronic Cigarettes????

Interesting concept, but what will the fed do without all the money that cigs and other tobacco products generate.

I can't answer because of the politics ban but I wish that I could.


It would be funny/scary to see people who are anti smoking have a fit if they think someone is "smoking" in a nonsmoking area. I won't be surprised if a thread opens on the Theme Park or Resorts thread.

Why put the word "allergic" in quotes? And if the "smoke" is not real smoke, then why would people with smoke allergies react to it (unless they also have an allergy to whatever is in the vapors)?

If these reduce the second hand smoke, then I'm all for it! Go ahead and continue to do whatever you choose with your own health! But I'll be glad not to have to breathe it in!

And why would they react if it's fake? Because there are an awful lot of fakers in the world. Someone posted a really funny story years ago about some lady who sat down next to her on a bench and then started having a massive coughing fit because of her cigarette. It wasn't lit.

THere's something sililiar that I got before, but you needed a Rx for it. it was a nicotine cartridge that you put together and 'smoked' it, but there was no effects like smoke and the light at the end. I can't remember what it was called!

Yes, I recently wrote a decision about a woman who dramatically claimed to the disability judge that she was 'allergic to the world', and described how being around virtually any dust, cleaning solutions, etc., would cause all sorts of health problems for her (coughing, headaches, dizziness, etc).

The judge asked her "Well, the medical records continually refer to your smoking two packs a day. How can you smoke so much if you are allergic to everything?"

The woman: "I'm down to half a pack a day".

Denied.

I just bought the njoy electronic cigarette system off Amazon ($79.00). Go to Amazon and type in 'electronic cigarette'.

It's a toss up. The Dr.'s I've seen interviewed on these say, you don't get the tar and chemicals in regular cigs, but you get 100% nicotene; which is bad for you. He said in the regular cigs you get a filtered nicotene.

I would say if they could filter down the nicotene more, it would be a winner. This is of course just what I think with the interviews I've seen. More studies would have to be done for me to be convinced. I don't smoke, so it's not a big deal to me.

Again, please provide a link or information concerning these interviews.

Ok, I ordered the NJOY cigarette from Amazon, received, and have used it for several days. Here is my opinion:

Very worth while.

This electronic cigarette is pretty fab. Not perfect, but close. My cigarette consumption has gone down 75 percent in the past few days.

The electronic cigarette is made up of several components. You have the 'main' cigarette (the white part with the 'ash' part at the end) which is actually a battery. From NJOY's started kit you get two of these batteries.

You get a charger that plugs into the wall: you then screw in one of the batteries (again, the white part of the cigarette) and it begins charging (when I received both 'chargers' were partially charged so I could begin smoking immediately).

You get an 'atomizer'. This is the part that actually turns the liquid into 'smoke': really a glycerin-based liquid that, when heated, vaporizes, and then quickly disapates (sic?). You screw the atomizer into the battery, then fit the filter (below) over the atomizer.

The 'filter' is the where the actual liquid nicotine and glycerin is located. It looks like a regular cigarette filter, but is hollow and has a small sponge inside, where the liquid is trapped. Again, you screw the 'atomizer' onto the 'battery' (the white part), then you take the 'filter' part and slide it over the atomizer.

However, when you 'change batteries' you actually un-screw the atomizer from the white part (the battery, leaving the 'filter' on the atomizer) and screw said atomizer/filter onto the new 'white' part of the cigarette.

The reason I am so particular is because the instructions are vague.

To continue: this Njoy delivers the nicotine, without the harmful 'other stuff' you get from a true cigarette. PLUS, you have the experience of 'dragging' on a cigarette, feeling the 'punch' in the back of your throat, and the satisfaction of 'blowing out smoke', which is odorless and is quickly gone (although I have been able to blow 'smoke rings').

Now, it is not a 'thick' cloud of smoke. Plus, the 'atomizer' has caused problems for many (not workiing). Mine makes 'adequate' smoke, but not truly 'satisfying' smoke on a consistent basis (I explain all on Amazon for this product, under "legalsea". Mine is the most recent review).

Nevertheless, I have been so impressed with this electronic cigarette that I ordered the 'starter kit' from Costco (they only sell online, not at the stores). They give you a better deal: everything you would get on Amazon, plus 10 extra cartridges. Costco also sells 40 cartridges for $64.00, which is a good deal (and which I am waiting for).

I also have ordered the "red dragon" electronic cigarette, which is differemt because it has an 'atomizer' in every filter. I suspect that my 'Njoy" filter is a bit defective, hence not giving me the 'blast of smoke' with each pull (again, see my Amazon review). One reason I ordered the new starter kit from Costco is to see if the new atomizer does as well (or poorly) as my original. Those whom have used the Red Dragon electronic cigarettes brag about the amount of 'smoke', although they admit that they occasionally get a 'bad' atomizer; however, they say that in every 'pack', they will have, at most, one 'bad' atomizer. The problem with Njoy: if your atomizer is 'bad' it affects 'ALL your smokes until you get a new atomizer (all have reported great customer service in getting a new atomizer).

I shall update when I have used the Red Dragon for a few days.

I read the article. It says nothing truly alarming.

The electronic cigarettes I buy are made in the USA. True, if you go to Ebay, you will see China and Hong Kong companies selling their version.

I did my own research. I truly believe that the Made in USA electronic cigarettes are pretty well 'harmless'.

True, pure 'nicotine' is not good for you. Yet, as a 40 year smoker, I am trying to find something that will take me off the 'smokes'. To date, the Njoy has helped me to cut down to 3-4 cigarretes each day.

I have noticed my 'lung capacity' improving (if ever so slightly) smce I switched to electronic cigs. I am not 'smoking' so much. I am still on a pack I bought last Monday (today is Thursday).

I am inhaling nicotine, true, but NOT the other crap that cigarettes have. I no longer make 'second hand smoke'. My car smells cleaner.

IN SHORT: for people whom are tryiing to quit, why are YOU putting up mental road blocks?

I tend to agree to suspect electronic cigarettes 'made in China'. The Njoy I am recommending are not. I did my own research, and I bought njoy. I also bought 'red dragon', which I shall review when I recieve.

People: ignore those whom speak of that which they have no expericence. I am smoking these electroinic cigarettes, and I welcome all questions.

I am right now enjoying the 'smokeless' cigarette. I take a 'puff', and then put it down on my desk. Nothing "hot' to worry about. No 'smell'. I quit smoking in my car some 10 days ago, and it smells much cleaner, although I 'smoke' the Njoy in the car all the time.

I thank you. I am determined to 'quit'. My biggest downfalll during the past 30 years (I did not start trying to 'quit' until I hit 30 or so; I am now 53) has been 'alcohol'. I woud 'get off' cigarettes, but if I had an adult beverage I would quickly hit the smokes.

Even as I type, I am having a Coke and Vodka, and yet the 'electronic cigarette' is keeping me happy. I do not smell, nor do my lungs feeling 'damaged'.


Try it, at least.

No, in theory one cartridge equals one pack. I think it equals about 12 cigs.

I just want to say, you are doing a great job, keep up the good work! Quitting is very difficult. The fact that you have smoked very few cigarettes this week is so great. You sound determined, so don't let anything or anyone stop you from your goal.

I was just looking at these on Costco's site and I am pretty sure it said for the refill that there is a no nicotine option (Reg, Light, Ulta Light and No).

Why are you putting allergic in quotes? There are people who really are allergic to smoke. Me and my aunt included. Heck. My dad will come home after being at the bar with smokers and my eyes start hurting and my sinuses start to clog up. When it's really strong on him, I even start to sneeze and cough. I don't have to even smell it for me to react to the smoke.

The chemicals in cigarettes can be allergy causing. I'm allergic to all kinds of chemicals. I'd like you to see the the itchy red rashes on my hands and wrists that is caused by the chemical perfumes that is put into so many items (including basic soap) and tell me I'm lying when I say I'm allergic to them.

This is like saying that pollen doesn't cause an allegic reaction because it's only an irritant. Or that no one could possibly be allergic to aspirin or grass.

There are fakes and there are people whose symptoms are psychosomatic. But there are people that are truly allergic to tobacco cigarettes.
Never assume that because you or someone you know personally has never been allergic to something that others aren't.
