I have a Boston Terrier with a brain tumor, because of the tumor she has bladder control issues. It only happens when she is asleep, and of course she sleeps IN our bed. I tried the disposable dog diapers, and they kept falling off of her. So, any advice? She is pretty small, 22lbs and 9 years old.

My mom has always used diapers for the female dogs, during "their time". She just bought baby diapers and those worked out well. Find some in the right size , granted they have to be changed everytime they go outside which was a pain but stil kept the house clean....lol...they are now (spayed/neutered) not sure whcih one for females so that is no longer an issue...

A friend of mine uses regular baby diapers for their dog too. I keep wondering why they don't just get her fixed.

Well, you could do what we do for our girls. We use boy's underway and put it on backwards - so there is a place to put the tail thru. For the girls "season" I can just use a pantyliner, but for the bladder control, you could try full sized pads. Might work...at least undies stay on.

My dad's girlfriend is a dog groomer. I can't remember the name of the device but she has this thing (I will call it a pee-pad) which is basically a fabric band that wraps around the dogs stomach and covers their pee-pee area. She lines the band with a generic sanitary napkin. The band is velcroed in place. If you are crafty at all, you can make one. She uses them on her hyper dogs that have poor bladder control.

Something like that would only work for male dogs. ;)

Can you guys suggest what size baby diapers i would need to buy? I only have the three furbabys..... I have never bought a diaper in my life.

The boys underwear is a good idea, but I don't think I could find any small enough to fit her.

Your problem is that your doggie has a shorter tail and a smooth coat. I have used female doggie diapers with a sanitary pad for my female Scottie a few times due to some medical issues. They worked great if she was shaggy. When she was freshly groomed, she would walk out of them. You can get a washable diaper that you can use sanitary pads in. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+32+14459&pcatid=14459
You might be able to get a better fit around the tummy with this. Since it is fabric you could even alter it slightly to get a better fit.

Even with this, you might want to get a waterproof pad for her to lay on in the bed. We keep a baby crib pad or changing pad on the floor at night--just in case. These are washable and have a soft fuzzy feel on the top so your dog would be more comfortable. We like the size of the unfitted crib pad better than the changing pads due to the size. Any urine soaked items get a rinse in the tub and then washed with vinegar and enzymatic cleaner. If she is losing bladder control at a certain time, maybe you could set the alarm and give her a quick walk halfway through the night (I know this will get old quick though).

I'm sorry your baby is sick. I hope you find a good solution to her incontinence problems and you can have many more happy days together.

THANK YOU! I got her two "panties" and 7 reusable liners. ( and some toys, lol ) Your explanation about why the disposable dog diapers keep falling off of her makes sense! I didn't even think about that. I use Method brand laundry soap and fabric softener which has natural enzymes, so getting these clean will not be a problem.

We have tried taking her out in the middle of the night, but that doesn't seem to help. Poor girl, she feels really bad about it. I just pet her, tell her its okay and that we love her and clean up the mess.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. :)

I hope these will help her have a higher quality of life. I can tell you love your little girl very much.
