Has anyone rented from Budget lately? Starting to look ahead for next year, and they are $200 less than Avis. We love Avis, and haven't had such great experiences with Budget, but $200 difference does say a lot.

I just used Budget in April 2003 in the Florida Keys....great low rate for an intermediate car (Ford Taurus). No problems with the car or checking in but nothing exceptional either. We had used them once at MCO and also had a great rate but a car that reeked of tobacco smoke. When I asked for another car they said none were available. I wished I had pressed the issue more, all our clothes smelled after even a short ride in the car. Their rates are hard to beat and so are hard to resist. On our last big WDW trip we had a Chrysler Sebring convertible, brand new leather seats which between the leather and the new car smell and that Florida spring air, it was heavenly ( Dollar!!). Even though we hardly use the car, just for going between resorts and maybe a trip or two to the grocery store, that convertible is going to hard to resist next time.

I was just pricing different rental companies and even with my corporate discount Avis and Hertz were $30-$100 more for the cheapest car they had. Those are some fairly big discrepancies. There are only going to be 2 of us travelling and we probably will only use the car a couple of times (to get over to Universal and to and from the airport). I found a deal for $137 for an entire week. It pays to shop around.

the real goofy

Check places like mousesavers for discount codes. The corporate discounts aren't usually the best.

I have been using codes on Mousesavers (looks like the Wal-Mart discounts are the best). We need a 12 day rental (want a luxury car), so I've been seeing between $750 to over $1000. Almost looks like we should drive - which won't happen! We might even end up with Avis, I don't know. The last couple time with Budget we've had to wait an hour for a car! Our Avis experience was much better.

Cali--You can use a double upgrade coupon for National or Hertz (entertainment book) which gets you up to a premium car. For Hertz that's a Grand Marquis.

Avis also has a double upgrade coupon.

PM me if you need the codes to play with.
