I had one on my Rebel XT and really loved it. To me, it was the perfect WDW case. The camera was protected when walking through the crowds or when I set it down in a restaurant or ride, yet still quickly accessible.
I've really missed it since upgrading to my 60D. Canon makes one for this camera, the EH21-L, but for some reason doesn't offer it in the U.S. market. It doesn't even appear on the CanonUSA web site.
I can find them available to be shipped from Japan on E-Bay and Amazon.com, but would have loved to see one before committing to the $250. For one thing, I'm not sure if it will work with the EF-S 18-135mm IS lens. I also usually keep an EW-73B hood on the lens. It would be great if that would fit, too; even if only in the reversed storage position.
My real dilemma, though is that I love my Black Rapid RS-7 camera strap. (It's the only camera strap I've ever had that doesn't make my neck and shoulder ache by the end of a day in the parks.) The RS-7 uses the tripod mount to connect to the camera rather than the camera strap mount positions on the top of the camera. The EH18-L case I have for my old Rebel XT also connected to the camera via the tripod mount. It was designed for the camera strap to be connected via the standard mounts. I'm betting the EH21-L case is designed similarly. I think I could modify these cases to work with the RS-7. I was thinking I could drill out the screw on the case and simply put the Black Rapid Black Rapid FastenR-3 through in its place.
The online pictures I can find of the EH21-L look like it's a completely different design from the older case I have. Everyone uses the same photo, and it doesn't show the bottom of the case or the way it connects to the camera.
Long shot, I know... but does anyone have a Canon EH21-L semi hard case? If so, I'd love to see some more detailed pictures of it. This is the only picture I've been able to find:
