anyone use a GPS to get to dining reservation?

Is the GPS very reliable when it comes to getting from a resort to one of the disney restaurants? We may be going out once or twice by car and wondering if the GPS is very reliable for doing this?

The restaurants are in the hotels or parks... You really won't need the GPS; you can just follow the signs... It's really easy to get around.

A lot of maps in the GPS units don't work that great at WDW - they will frequently try to send you down cast-member only roads and driveways. If you want to use your GPS, Mousesavers has a file you can download with all the WDW / Orlando POI on it. You then just add that POI file to your GPS' hard drive and it works very well

Um...I just use an old fashion paper map.
The best ones are at all the DVC sales booths all over the place.

Pretty sure they will give you a property map at check in as well.

And the PP is right. Everything is marked really well.

Depends what GPS you use, but I can tell you that my Magellan RoadMate (which doesn't accept outside POI files) was able to find Caribbean Beach, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Dolphin perfectly. I usually don't drive around Disney, especially not to the parks, but my last trip I had a conference there so I was off-site a bit.

I would recommend putting in the name of the park or hotel where the restaurant is located, then when you actually reach the park or hotel, following the signage to reach the actual restaurant. Rather than trying to get the GPS to take you all the way to the restaurant.

I have heard or people ending up at the Hess Station at DTD and the GPS telling them they are at EPCOT. I thought it was funny.
On a good note, they said they got some cheap drinks at the gas station to take back to the room...lol.

We use the GPS in my phone - ATT Navigator and we've never had a problem. We use it mostly to find things off site (Target, MAC store, clothing stores, etc) but it has always worked great. We've never needed it onsite. The signs are pretty good

Use the maps and common sense......I am amazed at the number of people who are brain dead and have no idea what a map is............Triple AAA was great!!!!!!

Perhaps you have a smart phone that can help you out? My Blackberry has GPS and WDW maps application. Haven't used it yet, but heard it beats paper maps.

I found a link for the VERY good and easy to use map for disney property. It even shows every stop light so you can just count the amount of lights until a turn-off.

It's a pdf file and printable.
