Seemed a little strange to me, but I'm hearing some of the radio commercials. The first time I heard it I didn't quite hear what the entire commercial was about when they said "not prepared in a vegetarian or vegan manner". I thought that was just taunting non-meat eaters that KFC isn't for them, but I guess it's a disclaimer that they likely fry it in the same oil that they used for cooking real chicken.

It’s a Kentucky Fried Miracle!

Here are some reviews:

I've had burgers from Impossible. They're not that bad. Even Red Robin and Burger King have them now.

But Beyond nuggets are weird. Supposedly fava bean and pea protein. I can't find any listings for their nuggets, but I think their tenders are probably just a different shape.

The whole pretend food trend is just getting more peculiar by the day.

The CEO of Impossible Foods said that he was hoping that it would be cheaper than meat and have a far lower ecological imprint than raising animals for meat. Raising animals is an extremely inefficient way to produce food. I'm certainly not a vegetarian, but I realize that there are some serious impacts from a huge demand for meat.

My Vegan daughter was going to look into them and possibly try them. We have tried the Gardein Chicken strips and they are actually pretty good. I'd be interested in try the KFC version, after my daughter does and says if they are good or not.

KFC wouldn't be appropriate though since they don't segregate their frying oil.

That is up to her to decide.
Cool. Thought it was worth a mention.

I was thinking of years ago when McDonald's was advertising that their fries were now cooked in "100% vegetable oil" while not mentioning that their "natural flavors" included natural beef extract. That was interesting with how many vegetarians/vegans/Hindus freaked out about it. But at least KFC has been pretty upfront about it.

This is for the people that are not necessarily have a moral objection, just don't want to eat meat. I have worked in food for over 30 years and there are plenty of people that are fine with this. Not every place can retrofit or have a dedicated area to such a small percentage of their menu. I wonder how well they will do. It seems as if all of the fast food places are trying to get at least one Impossible alternative on the menu. I would be interested in knowing how many they sell. I imagine it is a food trend.

I’ve had the plant based chicken and burgers. I’ve tried. I really have. I can’t get over the texture. If I had a baby today I’d probably raise it with plant based so they don’t get used to the yummy deliciousness of regular meat!

I know what the tagline is on it, but personally, I'm more of the opinion that it's just a way to harness humans into eating more blobs of chemical goo that are cheaper to get into households because the goo doesn't go bad & is cheaper to transport, just like with sugar and corn syrup. Humans need to eat, it's expensive to get good food to poor people so to me, maybe this is plan B.

Not a betting person but I would venture to bet that that if you put impossible foods next to whatever it is simulating side by side in the fridge the real world food would rot many times faster.

Caveat Emptor, thanks for teaching me that Ralph Nader.

No plan to try them. Seems like the latest food fad but if you fry something 'plant based' not sure anything is gained....LOL. Sounds like a marketing ploy for the company making them to say these are better for the environment then raising animals for their meat.

I agree. Even now that they removed the beef tallow from the processing they are still not vegan as they “natural flavoring” includes dairy. 🙄

She seem okay with item that “may contain...” because they are produced on the same equipment. She may or may not be okay with the shared oil.

I have never liked any of the Beyond Meat products I have tried. I have always liked all of the Impossible Food products I have tried.

Once again these products were not envisioned by the creators to be consumed by vegans or vegetarians.

They were created to be consumed by meat eaters. A more environmentally sustainable protein than animal meat.
