We might try this resort with our points, but am a little nervous. I heard the lodge suites on the bottom floor feel like "dungeons". I read this on tripadvisor and i usually don't believe everything i read but it got me thinking a little. Please help?

We just stayed there the second week of July of HATED it! Do not waste your points on the Sagamore. I used 240 points for a 4 night stay midweek (compared to my 2 bedroom at HH last summer for 165 points). The rooms are horrible - they are located down a flight of steep stairs in what seems to be a basement location. The dehumidifier must run constantly, it also smells of mold. My allergies were out of control. Surprised Disney even considers the resort an equal trade.

We have two children (3 and 6) who were not allowed in the dining room during the summer months for dinner. This is the hotel policy. The indoor pool was cold and dirty. The room it is in smelled horrible.

Basically we spent every waking moment away from the hotel. The area is beautiful, and there are great restaurants and things to do with the kids. I would love to go back but never to the Sagamore!

The best part was we lost power for 24 hours, which means no lights, no air - lots of fun! They offered us a complimentary night in the future (only after my husband complained) but to be honest I don't think we'll even use it.

Please feel free to ask any questions, I would be glad to answer them.

Ouch. Sounds like this old hotel hasn't updated since the glory days and is just coasting on its name.

We weren't even privileged enough to stay in the historic hotel part. They put you lodges that are very dark and unwelcoming!

We stayed there on points over the Columbus Day weekend in 2003. Had a wonderful time; the foliage was at peak and the hotel was at best 1/2 full, so things were restful and the staff was great. We were in a 3rd floor lodge suite, which had a fireplace and wonderful views of the lake. Dining at the hotel was great. We still look back on that trip as one of the nicest we've ever done using DVC.

The 3rd floor lodge suites are no longer available (as far as we were told earlier this month). They have been converted into private condos. The only way to have 2 beds is to have the lower floor, which are the ones that have the dark basement feeling.

We did enjoy the Lake George area and are looking into cottages to rent for a week next year to enjoy all the lake activities.

I was told the only suites we can get was the lower level, or the walk in level. I believe the walk in level would be better. The one thing i am upset about is they can't guarantee we will get the walk in room as dvc members. I asked if we weren't dvc members if they can guarantee it and they said they could. I can't believe dvc members aren't treated as cash paying people are. anyone know why??
