Anyone try roasting marshmallows at the resorts?

I happened upon the Cajun Campfire at Port Orleans French Quarter yesterday where guests could roast marshmallows over a campfire. I would have tried it except it was already hot outside and I didn't want to stand near a fire and be even hotter. But I'm curious, has anyone tried it? It looks like fun! (and probably is when it's cooler out)

We do the one at Fort Wilderness all the time, it's fun. The fact that it's hot outside and your standing in front of a fire doesn't really bother us.

It’s been offered at deluxe and moderate resorts for years. My kids always do it when we happen to be around the resort in the evening. Summer or winter trips, they love it just the same. :)

My kids have done it in August. There were a good amount of kids there too.

We do it at the wilderness lodge, the CMs have a stand set up daily w free marshmallows and sticks. It’s fun! My kids love it.058D3810-CDD0-448C-804E-634AE0BB1D64.jpeg

We are two adults and we do it whenever we are in the area of one. Mmmmmmm....toasty marshmallowy goodness!!! :)

Loved, loved, loved doing this at AKL in Jan/Feb. It was a really low-key way to interact with CMs (in the 00s while I was in my 20s, I would enjoy just striking up conversations with CMs about their jobs, rest of their lives, etc). My kids super enjoyed it, too! If I recall correctly, when we did it - they didn't have all of the smores stuff and we just toasted the marshmallows.

I've never done it but I think I might have read that if you want the chocolate bar and graham crackers (to use the marshallows to make smores), you have to buy them. I thought somebody who had done it would mention it, but not yet I guess.

That’s what happened at the fort. We were there in May and had to buy the crackers and chocolate in the store next to the campfire.

Correct.
Marshmallows are free
If you want smores you buy the rest of the ingredients, or bring your own

I've roasted marshmallows frequently. Roasted marshmallows are a favorite of mine. Most of the other members of my family aren't fans. I've never let the outside temp stop me

Yes and lately they have “gourmet” kits too with special chocolate and sprinkles.

But reg sticks and marshmallows are still free :)

Yep, we’ve done it. You can have as many marshmallows as you want (don’t tell my kid that) :P

We did it at contemporary and at first we were the only family doing it and then after a little bit, 1 more family joined. It was one of my 2 year old daughters favorite things we did at Disney

Our kids love it! When we stay at the cabins we bring our own supplies. They've done them at Coronado as well

Right - and what I'm saying is that when we went to make that purchase (AKL, Jan/Feb), they didn't have the smores stuff (just the marshmallows). Perfectly fine for me (the kids were disappointed) - but giving a relevant data point.

Is the one at Fort Wilderness in the same location as the Chip and Dale sing along?
