I have heard so much about dinovite on sirius radio and I've been to the website. Has anyone here actually tried it?

Our 4 year old boxer has some skin problems (he has bare spots on his back, I forget the name of what it is) and he has what appears to be some allergy problems as well. Of course we take him to the vet on a regular basis and she has recommended melatinin for the spots on his back, it hasn't made much of a difference.

So has anyone tried dinovite? What are you thoughts with it overall?

I've never heard of this before so I had to look it up. It looks interesting. I have used Omega 3 fatty acids for our setter and it helped his coat. He continued to itch so I am just giving him Petabs vitamins on top of his high quality food.

We broke down last summer and put him on Atopica. It is quite expensive. You give it daily then twice a week. We give it every 4 days now. So far it is helping a lot and we have avoided the antibiotics and predinisone for a few months. We try to avoid bathing too often as he gets dry skin easily and we have to use a very gentle shampoo and no conditioner. Poor guy is allergic as I am.

I thought about trying it a year or so ago for our St. Bernard. But it was going to cost so much because she is so heavy, I didn't do it. She gets itchy, but she doesn't scratch herself raw. We have tried all the antihistamines, allergy foods, etc. We can't seem to get her totally itch free. The only thing that really worked was prednisone, and of course can't use that too often.

I think we may try it for Champ. It's going to cost a fortune cause he is a big boy (over 100lbs.) but if it helps it should be worth it.

I did try it about 2 years ago. I have a boxer/bulldog mix with very bad skin allergies. I bought the huge tub...I think it was close to 200 dollars! My dog seemed to like it okay, but it didn't clear up the allergies and we are back on prednisone. I think she will prob be on that forever. The vet has tried other things, but nothing else seems to really keep it under control. We just have the vet run bloodwork regularly to make sure it isn't messing with her liver function. She doesn't have the weight gain problems that are a common side effect with the pred.

May I suggest that you look at the ingredients listed on your dog food? Commercial dog foods use corn and wheat..........LOTS of dogs develop allergies and skin problems because of this. Medicines may offer a tiny bit of relief, but they do not cure the problems.

I switched my dogs from a commercial food to a more "natural" kind. It contains NO corn or wheat. My big dog had alot of issues. Sneezing, licking/chewing paws, dull black fur, flaking skin. I gave vitamins, probiotics, etc.

The new food has made a HUGE, huge difference! He has shiny black fur, hardly ever licks his paws.......and I don't need to spend extra on supplements. There is glucosamine, lots of vitamins, probiotics INCLUDED in their food.

Instead of him acting like a senior on his last legs......he is acting like a happy young dog again (and he IS a senior.....he's eight and my poodle is 11).

There are several good dogs foods..........not usually the ones you see advertised...those are "commercial" (Iams, Science Diet, Purina, Nutro) and they ALL contain fillers (corn/wheat).
