Anyone tried the Plaza who cares to share their thoughts?

Anyone give me some thoughts on The Plaza in MK? We are thinking about hitting it for dinner one night after a CS lunch and CP for b-fast. THe food looks lighter (sandwiches and salads). Can anyone tell me if its worth going for dinner? (We are doing Liberty Tavern later in the trip for dinner).

I haven't tried it yet, but based on a friends recommendation, I've made ressies for our May trip for a lunch there. I like "cold" food for lunch, so their sandwiches seem very appealing!

We ate there. We enjoyed it,I loved the tomato soup they had and I had a sandwich as well.It was very very good! Everything was very fresh..OH and I almost forgot, the potato salad was very good too.

We loved it! On our day trip in July 2006 we walked in with no reservations and were seated immediately. While enjoying our [tasty] meal, the mayor of main street walked in and gave a kid a certificate for free ice-cream (or something like that). Pardon my fuzzy memory, but an older man and and lady walked in with him. Well the older man (I think his character was a historian) sat down at our (3/4s full) table and just started yapping away about this and that. He even made the other characters "break" their character. (This was for lunch) I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I'm wondering how necessary ADRs are at the Plaza Restaurant? We'd love to give this place a try on our upcoming trip, but aren't sure if we should call and make an ADR or just try to get in on a whim. What would you recommend?

FYI, we'll be at WDW at the end of July and for the first few weeks of August.

Well if it is important to you, than I'd get them just in case; better to have them than to be turned down! I think so many people walk by it or bypass it in a restaurant list that it tends to get ignored, but you never know so... I say book and cancel if you aren't going to attend your ADR.

My trip was at the end of July, too. It's way hot, but with plenty of water and unplanned "shopping" (running into amazingly air conditioned shops) its awesome to be there.

edit: By the way; congrats on your upcoming wedding/disneymoon!

very nice place...keep in mind its a cold sandwich/burger joint. We stopped by twice on my last 7 day trip. Very nice to sit down in the park and relax for a hour and see the action right outside the windows. The desserts here are great also. WE used our meal plan ts credits here and didn't care if it was the best value, it's what fit into our day perfectly.

Thanks for the super quick response, MouseEarsForLife! I think that we will make the reservation just to be on the safe side. If we really enjoy it, we can always try dropping in again!

Also, thanks so much for the congrats - we are SUPER excited! August can not come fast enough! :)

We just ate there a week ago and everything was delicious! I can personally recommend the Plaza Club!:thumbsup2

If you're going during a busy time, make an ADR. I think people are quickly becoming aware of it. We were there on January 2nd, with an ADR at 11:30 and still waited 45 minutes to get in. We all loved the food. I've had the chicken/strawberry salad a couple of times, and even splurged on the burger last trip. My son loved the tomato soup -- it was especially cold the day we were there and he quickly ate it.

I really like it there. It's right in the heart of the magic, yet, for some reason, it's often overlooked. They have EXCELLENT burgers!:thumbsup2

We went almost two weeks ago and it was great. Their shakes were FANTASTIC!!! I had the Reuban which was great. The only thing we didn't like was the cheesesteak.

The Plaza is my DD's favorite restaurant in the MK. She raves about their tomato soup. I love the Reuben- the German potato salad is really good, too. And, the shakes and ice cream desserts are wonderful, especially on a hot FL day. We had the Mayor and the other lady running for Mayor in giving their campaign speeches the day we ate lunch there- they were both very funny.

We ate there last week for dinner. It was a great location for Wishes! We had just finished eating dinner, stepped out onto the sidewalk to watch Wishes (perfect viewing!), & then went back in for dessert. You can get these cool light up Tinkerbell & Capt Hook clips if you order the raspberry lemonade. Dh wasn't as fond of the restaurant. I had the veggie sandwich, DH had the reuben sandwich, & DS2.5 had pb&j sandwich. We probably won't go again b/c of DH, but I felt it was a perfect place to watch Wishes & avoid the crowds. We had 7:25pm ressies & Wishes was at 8pm.

I'm trying to decide on a place to eat before MNSSHP. LTT, Tony's and The Plaza are the ones we have yet to try. LTT, for all the characters, really does not appeal (the menu just makes me think of school dinners) So I'm glad to hear that The Plaza might be a good choice.

We enjoyed our sandwiches. I don't think they're as good as say Earl of Sandwich, but better than the sandwiches I've had throughout the rest of the park. The Reuben was tasty and fresh. The only thing I didn't care for were the seats -- those wirey backs didn't promote lounging ;) And we did have a rather sarcastic waiter who somehow decided we wanted to hear him complain about his job -- definitely an uncomfortable and unwelcome feeling. I'm hoping the rest aren't normally like that and hopefully he's moved on to another job.

As for ADR's, we made some for next May for dinner. However when we went on our last trip (Jan 7, 2006), we walked in for lunch.

My husband and I ate there in January. I had a burger that was very good, my husband enjoyed his cheesesteak sandwich. The food was served very quickly, but our waitress didn't refill our glasses once - another server noticed that we were both empty and brought us more drinks. The server also didn't come by to offer dessert until she brought our check. I ordered the brownie ice cream sundae and the brownie was incredibly hard - I could not eat it. My husband enjoyed his cheesecake, though.

All in all, it was good food, but I wouldn't get dessert again unless I was on the DDP.

We ate there before MNSSHP and thought it was horrible. My kids liked it enough, but I wouldn't waste my money. I had the reuben and I guess I was waiting for real corned beef.:confused3 The atmosphere and the servers were nice.

Glad I found this thread. We have ADRs at the Plaza for lunch in August and haven't read much about it.
