There are other companies like it too, but this is the one closest to me. The concept is that you pay a fee upfront to make a set number of meals in their kitchen that you take home and freeze for future use. They are supposed to be gourmet meals and they say the cost is actually a bit more economical than going out and getting all the ingredients yourself and making it.

Basically you show up on a pre-assigned date and they will have different stations set up of the ingredients needed for the dishes. There are easy to follow instructions, you assemble the dishes yourself and can modify the ingredients, too (if you don't like something you just don't put it in). As you make each dish you put it in your cooler and instructions are given for simple preparation of each meal.

I think it sounds so cool, I'd love to try it! For those of you that have, did you feel it was worth it? Would you do it again? Was it fun putting the meals together or exhausting?

Thanks for any info!

my sister had done it a few times. she goes with some friends and they have fun with it, and she says the food is great.

I'm thinking about doing it one of these days. probably in the fall...we tend to do less cooking in the summer.

I'd really like to try this but as far as I know there aren't any near me. I'm definitely going to try it when one opens up. I figure I'm not out all that much if my family hates the food or it turns out to cost us quite a bit more in the long run.

I've thought about getting together with friends and trying this on our own once or twice but I haven't been able to find receipes that I was sure would work. It's a neat idea though.

I have been really interested in doing it in our area. A friend told me about it and we actually ended up eating dinner over there one night that was a Let's Dish. I have only heard very positive things.

Yep - loved it! I did the 8 meals, but you can split, so I actually made 16 meals. And they were good!

I have some friends who have tried it (we have Dream Dinners around here) and they all rave about it. I was thinking of trying it myself...

I did a couple years ago. I liked the concept. The price seemed ok. The selections at the place (dinners done right) I went to were good. My kids loved most of it. My husband however, didn't care for most of it. He likes the things I cook. He doesnt like to stray from the norm.

I went twice. The first time I went with a friend to try it out. We split the cost and each made 6 meals. When I went back I went by myself. I'm a pretty quick cook so I actually made 12 meals in about 1 hour 20 minutes.

I've done Dream Dinners for several months. I really enjoy the food, (good quality and variety) and convenience. The price is ok. Its worth it to me to have stuff done and ready to pull out of the freezer for a quick fix. I have to travel to the next town for our Dream Dinners. Hopefully there will be some more opening closer. Charlotte now has Dream Dinners, Super Suppers and My Girlfriends Kitchen.
