Southwest flights opened up today for the fall...PVD to MCO for $139 each way? Outrageous!!! You would think that they would want people getting on those planes. Who wants to go to sticky, hot Orlando in August? Me, that's who

Here's hoping that the rates come down and I can get a credit to go next year!

We're heading out on the 8/14 and coming back on the 21st...$159 both ways for the flights we wanted. Not great but cheaper than Jet Blue. Fingers crossed for a reduction. I'll post if I see one.

Actually, I would think they'd want to get people on the planes while still making - not losing - money. It's just good business.

I find it strange that SW has posted $139 for almost every day. Usually their rates are low for the web only price.

The higher rates always are posted the first few days; then they will start to drop down.

I'm waiting for the drop...waited all morning for the fares to be released for October and they stink! JB is cheaper but I'd reallly like to fly out of providence so I'm just going to wait it out.

I'm waiting it out too. I really don't want to pay $139 ea. way for Oct. Why is it that it seems every other city SW flies out of get great deals but PVD? I've never seen any great fares going out of there. I think once I may have gotten $99 in one direction, but it was more for the other way. Usually the best I do is somewhere between $109-129. It's $84 out of Boston, but all those flights have connections. Boo to that! I just want to get there. I don't want to spend 2 hrs. sitting in an airport waiting for the next flight. Keeping my fingers crossed those fares come down a bit. Good luck to everyone waiting it out with me!

Respectfully, the price of an airline ticket isn't just the actual dollar cost, but also the value. It's a poor value to the above poster to save $55 per person but have to change planes (and sit for two hours in BWI or another interim airport).

Southwest likely doesn't fly nonstop from Boston to most destination specifically BECAUSE of its large presence in both Manchester and Providence - it doesn't want to compete with itself.

Actually, those prices aren't too bad. My flight from PVD to MCO for May is now $260 ONE WAY. The other flight that was $260 is now sold out. It's all about supply and demand. I am so glad I got the tickets when they were $130 each way. Don't count on prices going down. They might but you never know. Last October my DH and myself booked when they first came out. They were $125 each way when they started. Eventually, we received a $185 credit for a future flight because they came down so much. If you can afford it, I would book the tickets now and IF they go down, consider it pre paying for a portion of a fight within the next year.

We are going Aug 19(139) and coming home Aug 29(188:scared1:) I did not buy the tickets yet either. Hoping the fares go a little lower. The days of $49.00, 59.00 etc. one way are over!:sad1:

I'm amazed at how many non-stops SWA has from Providence compared to BDL. Hartford non-stops seem to be fewer and farther inbetween, and our prices are no better. I still love SWA, and as long as my bags fly free, and there's a non-stop to MCO, I'm sticking with it.
