Anyone thinking of skipping a year or two due to construction?

I was hoping to head back this year, but now I'm reconsidering due to all of the closures/construction. I went last year and feel like I'd be returning to less at a greater price. (Due to ticket increases and also because I was looking to upgrade from a value resort to Mod or deluxe split stay.) My brother moved to LA last year and I may visit him and give DLR a try while I'm there. (I know it too is under construction, but i've never been and there would be new experiences available to me. Plus it would only be a small part of my trip.) Is anyone else feeling like it's hard to justify going right now with so much coming up in the next few years? Why or why not? Maybe I want my mind changed! Thanks!

We did pass on the DHS park this time due to the construction.
If you've never been to Disneyland, It is very worthwhile and they have a lot of attractions there are not in any of the FL parks.

While I'm not skipping next year, I am probably only coming down for 3 nights with my son (who will be 4) and doing MVMCP (our first time) and another full day at MK. That's pretty much it. We usually do a 7+ nights every September but I'm wanting to cut down a lot until construction is mostly done.

I'm not skipping. I feel like there is always construction somewhere at Disney. We just redistribute our park days depending on where the construction is. So this year, we are only going to HS once. We usually go to HS at least two or three days of our trip.

We have a trip to WDW scheduled for November 2016, but chances are we will be skipping WDW for at least a year and maybe more. I doubt we'll be waiting for Star Wars Land before we go back - the beckoning call of F&W is quite strong - but I'd like to have a couple new options (Pandora & Toy Story Land at least) for our next trip after this year.

We are skipping this year and may not go until the end of next year. We are thinking of taking a quick trip for the Halloween party since one of the dates is on our dd birthday.

I just can't skip a whole year, but I can see why some would. I am looking forward to next year just because Soarin' will be open again. That was the worst closure for me this January.

No plans to skip. We'll utilize water parks more which is cool with me. I always feel like we don't do them enough anyway. Plus we always throw in a couple of US/IOA days too. So still plenty to do even with construction.

We are taking several years off after our October trip (during which 5 of 6 will be using an AP, plus taking 2 extras). We will do Busch Gardens and Universal next year (with a Disney cruise for our mouse fix), Europe the year after (looking at Disneyland Paris, though), 2019 we plan to go out west to see National Parks (and Disneyland/CA), and will hit WDW again in 2020. Fingers crossed that Star Wars land will actually be done by then...plus we just want to do other stuff.

Yes. We've decided to skip WDW this year and try Disneyland instead. It's our first time there which is quite exciting yet strangely unfamiliar as there seems to be so much less planning required.

Skipping 3 years until there is something new. Well, actually 4. We skipped DTD in 2014, it is still a mess. Frozen won't cut it. A tip of the hat to Star Wars won't do it. So yes, delaying is our strategy.

I'm fighting the urge to go back for our second WDW visit this year and made a decision (wasn't wasy) to only visit when at least Pandora is open. I would love to go only when Star Wars land and/or Toy Story Land is open since I'm in the minority and hugely love HS, but I don't know if I can wait that much. In the end, all I ask right now is to have a definite travel date to look forward to, since I believe planning is part of the magic, but it's hard since we know nothing about the future projects. I won't be in the world before October/November 2017 that's for sure.

We decided after our last trip that we were going to wait 3-4 years before going back (Then we had the opportunity to go without kids this summer and jumped all over it!). BUT... that really didn't have anything to do with construction or prices for us. It was really about the ages of our two boys and how they get along. We figured that DD13/DS9/DS7 was going to be a whole lot better to manage than DD11/DS7/DS5 on our regular every other year schedule.

I went to WDW 4 times last year and planned for those trips to hold me over for at least 1-2 years. Well--it didn't work out that way. I booked a 10 night trip for this Sept!! I think I've been brain washed by Mickey!!

Yep, between changes and higher prices on AP's, plus all the construction and closures, no plans for 'any' trips to WDW at this time. We're planning all our vacations elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

Absolutely. August is when our passes expire and I do not think we will be back until 2019... MAYBE 2018 but who knows... the speed that Disney builds it might be 2020 before the full Star Wars/Toy Story lands open.
