thanks!

Great question, I would be interested to know as well. My husband and I leave on Monday (sep. 8) and I am worried about rain!

How are the Love Bugs this year?

The weather we had was fabulous! We only got caught once at MK during a Thunderstorm! Finally got to buy that MM Umbrella that I keep saying I was going to buy!LOL

As for those Love Bugs! Apparently they are bad this year! Can't really gauge because this was our first trip at this time of year!

The good thing is, they don't bite! They just annoy!LOL

Enjoy your trip!

Here is an update:

As of today, September 6th, crowds are down across all of WDW. Today, Tropical Depression Henri has hit, and the rain is torrential, and there is thunder and lightning. The parks are open. They have only closed twice in WDW history... once with the threat of Hurricane Hugo, which bypassed, and the parks reopened in a matter of hours, and the 2nd was 9/11.

This past week, the weather was warm and in the beginning of the week it was sunny. Once the threat of the Tropical Storm hit, it was cloudy, a bit cooler and a little more humid, but not unbearable at all. Waits for rides were minimal, and you could enter just about any restaurant that takes walk-ups without a PS.

As for tomorrow, they are forecasting 88 degrees, sunny with the usual chance of afternoon rain. That is pretty much the same forecast through Wednesday.

Hope you have a great time!:)

look at my tag line. I live right here. It was suppose to rain all day yesterday and today. So far, lite sprinkles are all we've experienced. We were forecoast to have 6+ inches, yesterday alone.

Love bugs are bothersome, which I have never noticed at the parks before.

Last night, Hard ticket event, Night of Joy, went on without a rain poncho, or umbrella being needed until sometime near midnight.

Pintrader you are so lucky to live near WDW. How often do you go to the parks? Who was performing at the concert, was Michael W. Smith, or Steven Curtis Chapman there? Man, if I lived at WDW's back door I would be there all the time.;)

and I am !! I was at Animal Kingdom all day yesterday. I will be at MK for Night of Joy starting at 3 today and not leaving until 12:30 a.m.

We just got back yesterday. We're were there 8/31-9/5. The weather was great - cloudy so it wasn't too hot. The lovebugs are everywhere. They don't bite, they're just annoying. Crowds were very light! 9/4 we walked onto Rock-n-Roller Coatser at noon - no line! 9/2 we went on Mission Space, we had maybe a 5 minute wait or less. 9/3 MK was no wait for Splash Mountain. There was a wait for Space Mountain (30 minutes). A lot of rides are NOT doing Fast Passes because of the short wait time. My DD and I rode Barnstormer 2 times in a row (without getting off). The CM said she liked making magic when the crowds were light! On 9/2 Fantasmic was delayed about 15 mintues due to light showers, but the show did go on.

Illuminations Cruise 9/4 was wonderful (Thanks Rob!). The wind did blow the fireworks smoke our way so we couldn't see the world ball open, but it was still a great show.

Enjoy yourselves!

OK, I am leaving Wed and have two toddlers that HATE bugs...What are these 'love bugs'?? Does any repellant work for them?? Thanks in advance. I haven't been to WDW since 1993 and it was only for a couple of hours with my friend and her kid so I am totally clueless!!

I don't recall what the dates of the FTP are, but I thought it included Sept.. I know this is early in Sept., but certain people on these boards said the FTP was so successful that Sept. would be a very busy month for WDW and room discounts are at a premium. Maybe the resorts are full and the locals are staying home. Maybe the weather is holding down attendance. Maybe the rest of Sept. will be very busy. Just curious why the crowds are down. I know Sept. is normally a slow month, but I thought with the packages offered things would be busier.

I was told that the love bugs were suppose to take care of the mosquitos. But personally, I thought the lady bugs were suppose to take care of those. I think somebody got love bugs and ladybugs confused.

Lovebugs are harmless. They do get all over your cars though. They don't bite or sting or anything. They're just everywhere in September. I doubt your toddlers will be bothered much by them.

They're harmless - just annoying. My kids used to freak out about them. I just casually pick them up and toss them. Now the kids do the same. My son likes to stomp on them...

Oh those love bugs. I live in Houston and the love bugs are everywhere. For those of you that haven't seen love bugs they are a small black bug, about a 1/4 in long and fly. They don't bite or try to land on you and don't seem to make any noise. When you see two together you will see why they are called love bugs. They are easily swatted away. For some reason I think they like the color white. I use to have a white car and they seemed to swarm around it. But now I have a darker color and they don't seem to be on my car as much.

I was just thinking this same thing. We chose 9/28-10/10 for our trip bc. it's usually very slow. Then came the FTP and dashed my hopes of que-less days at the parks. But reading this thread makes me think that maybe it won't be as bad as I've been picturing it. I would be happy with just manageable crowds.

It would be interested to keep this thread going so those who are in the world or just back can steadily keep us "posted" (pun intended!:) )

It was my intention to keep it going at least till I get there (and hopefully when Im there I can post current conditions).
Thank you for all your input! Im thinking Sept will be normal w/ minimal crowds and walk on rides. Then again, I have been called an eternal optimist. Either way, this time next week Ill be THERE!!! Yipee!!

Actually, the weather in October is usually much better than the weather in September. A bit cooler, and a lot less humid. You may encounter more guests, but last year, it wasn't even close to what I consider crowded. Take advantage of the FP option, and if you are staying on property, make sure to use the Extra Magic Hour to get in those rides that are open. We find it especially helpful for MK, MGM and with the opening of Mission: Space- Epcot.

Have a great time!:)

They also closed the parks for Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

Hope you have a great time!:)
