I give out small goodie bags because I have never met a holiday that I didn't like :teeth: plus I really want to bring in treats after the kids are done with their lunch for fun. I was thinking about Dirt which is pudding, cool whip, and gummi worms and I checked out familyfun.com ... any other ideas?

I need it to be easily transportable as I also have to juggle a 3mo and 2.5yo, too. :maleficen ---> what a wicked smilie that I thought it be appropriate lol

There are tons of easy decorated cupcakes you could make the day before. Also, the graveyard cake is super easy! I am working on the treat baskets for DS and DD's classes now! pirate:

would love to but our school does'nt recognize it as don't most of the public and private schools in our area.

My DD6's school said very specifically that they may NOT wear any parts of costumes to school.(they wear uniforms) Also, no Halloween treats.
My DD11 is in middle school and they may wear costumes that day. I haven't heard of any specific restrictions regarding them, like no masks, ghoulish stuff, etc. It is Spirit Week for them. so they are just making it one of the different days.

oh, and our public schools will not allow any homemade treats (they mandated store bought still in the sealed original container) cuz they can't control the sanitary conditions or lack of that someone may prepare in (plus it's a gamble on the ingredients-they want to be able to read what's in them for the kids with allergies).

it is sad-no halloween, christmas is now winter break (and no christmas show), easter is spring break (and don't dare to mention that bunny :) ).

at least our kid's school celebrates christmas, easter (though from a spritual standpoint) and lets us do those holidays with homemade goodie celebrations.

My DD's school has parties for the younger kids pre-k to 6th, they wear their costumes and can bring treats. The school also gives everyone a treat bag and if it is nice outside they have a parade about 15 minutes before school gets out so the parents can see them :) We cannot bring homemade things either or unwrapped candy.

This year my DD is in 7th (our school goes from pre-k to 8th) the 7th and 8th graders get a dance with a DJ and snacks from noon until 2:45 when school gets out.

It's a public school and they wear uniforms but they are great about the Holidays. The only thing is if they don't wear a costume they have to wear their uniform.

This is my legendary treat "Hamburgers". They aren't Halloween themed, but I am known for these when my kids were in elementary school.

Ingredients:
Vanilla wafers
York Peppermint patties (or equivalent)
Vanilla Frosting
Flaked coconut
Green Food Coloring
Honey
Sesame Seeds

Preheat oven to 350. Rack should be in center of oven.
Tint coconut green to resemble "lettuce" and set aside.
Line a baking sheet with foil and place 15-18 wafers on the sheet round side down. Place a mint on each wafer.
Place in oven until mint appears "wet" - watch carefully!
Take out of oven.
Top each peppermint pattie with "lettuce" and another vanilla wafer that you have frosted with the "mayonaise". Press down slightly for all pieces to stick together.
Warm some honey and brush lightly on top of the "burger". Sprinkle sesame seeds on top to set.

Cool and enjoy! The kids always loved these.

We were in Pigeon Forge, TN last weekend so I got the kids halloween treats at a candy kitchen there. My daughter goes to a catholic school and they go all out for halloween. In fact we are having a fall festival tonight as the start of halloween activities. My little brother goes to a christian school and they can only dress up as bible characters and they have a fall festival.

I've always done candy apples - a BIG hit! - or Rice Krispy treats. The apples are easy to transport in a box, and the caramel bottoms keep them from slipping. They're super easy to make.

Only storebought treats allowed, nothing homemade! But they do ahve a party and they also have "kids on parade"..they all come dressed in their costumes and they have a parade around the school which parents are invited to.....if you don't like that you can come get your kid out of school when they do that or keep them home..no need to spoil everyones fun for a few who don't"do" halloween!

Mo's school doesn't allow it. They don't have a Halloween party either because it might offend someone.

My kids' school has a Halloween party. We wear uniforms so no costumes. I'm taking treat bags for DD's class.
