Anyone taken a baby under 6 months -- need help

We are going to Disney this Saturday! We have a 11, 9, and a 4 1/2 month old. I am bringing my own stroller for the baby but was wondering what do I do in restaurants? She is not old enough to sit in a high chair and we won't have the infant carrier with us so I am guessing we have to hold her the whole time while we eat . Do I have any choices? Please help with suggestions.

My children are 11, 8, 2 and 8 weeks. We are leaving on the 15th for 11 nights too! We took our 2 year old for her first trip when she was about 3 1/2 months. We brought our carseat that fits into the stroller most of the time. (we will bring it for our newborn too). But, there were some times that we just laid her down in the stroller and didn't have the carrier. We ate at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's and they have infant high chairs that look like a car seat. We had no problem putting our 3 1/2 month old in it. I did bring a small receiving blanket and placed it under her in the seat. There are seat belts just like an infant car seat. I assume these chairs are available at most rest.'s. They definitely had them at these 2 rest.'s! Good luck! We had a blast with our little one.

We have taken all my kids -- DS12, DD4, DS 2 1/2 DS 1 -- when they were that age and were able to bring the strollers into the restaurants if they didn't have the infant high chairs like Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. Most restaurants were very accomodating -- just make sure to let them know when you show up for your meal. Sometimes we had to wait a little longer for a table with enough room for the stroller but it was so worth it!

We have the same situation. We will go in Sept (free dining--so we will be doing a lot of eating!!) and DS will be 4 mos. Not all restaurants have the "infant" high chairs.

I think the best idea is to ask to bring the stroller in.

Another idea is to ask for a booth (bench seating). You could lay the baby down on the bench beside you. Would a snuggli work? You'd just have to be careful not to drop hot food on the baby's head. You'd at least have your hands free.

If anyone has more ideas, I'd love to have them!

We took our youngest at 4 months, she rode in the sling at most restuarants. Worked fine, we used the baby bjorn too. Some restaurants let us bring in the stroller though.

We took our son at 4 months also. We found the Maya Wrap to be great for restaurants. I just snuggled him into the wrap and let him sleep. Also, we brought the stroller into the restaurant if he was already asleep.

I took my son last summer when he was 6 months old. He sat on my lap during some meals, but he did stay in his stroller at California Grill, Brown Derby, and Ohana. The servers had no problem with that. If he woke up, I held him, but he stayed asleep for most of those meals.

I had not thought about this before reading this post! We 99.9% certain that we are cancelling our September trip where I will be at the end of this pregnancy (the trip at 16 weeks took much more out of me than I expected it would and I'm just not so sure I can do 33 weeks and not put myself in to labor!). If we do, we will change to late January where this baby will be about 4 months. I had not thought about the not being able to sit up yet thing. Both of my older boys were too big for the infant seat at 4 months. They were too long. Most of the infant seats are designed for 25" to 26" and both of my boys were just over 27". The Peg Perego seat goes to 30" so I guess I could consider that but we hadn't planned on spending $225 on a car seat and I refuse to buy a car seat used (other stuff, sure if it's in good condition but not a car seat). My kids also didn't like sleeping in those seats for extended periods of time like in the parks all day so I hadn't planned on bringing it in to the parks. Pushing baby in the stroller and carrying his car seat around just isn't an option. LOL

Have a fantastic time on your trip! I'd love to hear how it goes with baby and the restaurants when you return (like where had the infant seats and if you had any trouble bringing in your stroller anywhere else).

hi there, all the resturants that we went to last year accomodated our 16 week old babys stroller. We made sure that we advised the resturants when we booked that we would have to keep babe in stroller, they just removed a chair at our table and he was parked there.

We had a fab timeand have some fantastic piccies of our little one at wdw.

Out daugher was 5mo when we took her last September.

We brought our infant high chair in to many of the restaurants. That's what we kept her in attached to the stroller when we were walking around the parks. We found that she had more shade and was more comfortable that way.

Some restaurants even let us bring in the whole stroller -- that was really nice.

I also remember at Crystal Palace there was this plastic seat -- not a high chair -- but a nice seat that she was able to comfortably lay in. That was nice.

We second the idea of a wrap. Last year we used a wrap for the entire time with a 3 week old ( I am now getting out the flame retardent suit out for taking a newborn but it worked with us ) . Also ask to bring the stoller in if you can, its best to be flexible but have all your bases covered. Wrap, stroller/car seat, infant high chair just be prepared.

We took DD for the first time when she was 5 months and we did a few things. Most restaurants let us wheel her in and she usually slept in the stroller next to us - at the head of the table. (They even let us do it at the Sci Fi which I hadn't expected.) A couple times she sat on my lap in our front carrier and she even had her first time in a high chair at Disney. It wasn't the best arrangement (being all propped and padded) but it was memorable.

I recommend that you tell the host/ess that you would like to bring in the stroller and see what they say. We were pleasantly surprised at how accomodating everyone was.

We took our 4 month old last May and it was wonderful. The restaurants have infant high chairs. Also we used a Maya Wrap and it was so easy to keep him in. The baby and I loved it. Good Luck and have a wonderful trip!!!

How about a bumbo?

When we were at the BWI in May, there was a family there who had a Bumbo for their baby and brought it everywhere we saw them...the pool and Big River Grill etc. At Big River, the baby was sitting on the table in the Bumbo seat. My mother REALLY thought they had brough a child's potty and put it on the table and let the child sit on the potty on the table. I pointed out that (1) that baby was WAAAAAYYYYY to small for potty training (2) she was still dressed and (3) did she really think a restaurant would allow that and their waiter had been by more than once while the baby was there.

I'm glad to hear no one had any trouble bringing in the stroller. I really don't want to deal with the infant car seat there. THe stroller we will be buying has a really great sunshade so that won't be an issue and if this baby follows the same growth pattern as his/her brothers, s/he will be just about too big for the infant seat at that point so I expect s/he would be more comfy in the stroller that reclines all the way flat. We'll have the baby's stroller and an umbrella stroller with a kiddy board on back for our older boys (they can take turns sitting vs. riding on the back. I really don't want to have to deal with 2 strollers, 2 kids, an infant, the big bag of stuff that baby will need, the camera bag AND an infant car seat on the busses.
