I recently got a nice digital SLR camera that takes awesome photos. I really want to take it with me in the parks, but I'm not looking forward to actually carrying it around all day long. I know my DH probably doesn't want me to take it since he complains that I spend too much time taking pictures of the family than spending time with them. Totally not true since it takes like 2 seconds to snap a picture of them, but anyway.

Will I be able to take the camera bag with me on all rides? We have 2 little ones, so we'll be doing the child hand-off for the "thrill" rides. I will be able to keep the camera with him at that point.

I just don't want to feel like I'm bogged down in all camera for our trip, but I want the nice photos that it takes.

My DH took his digital SLR with us last year. We didn't have any problams at all. He has one of those soft covers for it that he used when we went on rides and then I always had a plastic grocery bag in my pocket for the water rides. He carried it around all day but then again he feels lost if he doesn't have it with him.

Take it, you won't regret it! I even took it with me on the thrill rides (I have a pic from the top of Expedition Everest even!), I just wrapped around my wrist several, several, times lol.

Enjoy your trip!

I took mine a year ago to DLR and the photos made it worth it! From time to time it was a bit of a pain in the patootie to lug around (I hate having to have things strapped to me), but it was overall all right.

I had my dSLR in the park, but didn't take it on that ride and wish I did. I was in the front seat and that view at the "broken tracks" was AMAZING!!

My mom takes hers EVERYWHERE! And I mean everywhere. She took it to Olive Garden to take pictures of flowers outside one day :) So yes, she'll definatly be bringing hers along with several lenses and attachments i'm sure. Her camera bag is a backpack and everything fits neatly inside so i'm sure he'll just use that as her purse for the day also. Perhaps you could use a backpack as your camera bag? Its very convienient since youc an fit other stuff in there also

I've carried mine the past few trips. If you tend to carry a bag anyway it can go in there. It does tend to be a little more heavy and cumbersome but with a good bag you may not notice. I use a small sling bag that will carry the cameral and a few other small items. If you travel light that will do otherwise there are larger packs that will carry the camera safely and other stuff too!

Thanks! I think I will definitely take it.

Sam914 - is your mom's backpack specifically made as a camera bag or does she use a regular backpack to carry it?

I'll need a small bag for diapers and such as well, so I'm trying not to get too bogged down. Darn kids. :lmao:

I usually bring my digital SLR, but it gets pretty heavy. I bought a small digital camera just for this reason and it did pretty well other than some of the night time pics/shows/parades, etc. It was nice not to have the weight. For our Christmas trip I think I'm going to have to bring it though.

It's something like this one... its a specific camera bag but you could definatly stick some diapers in there also :)

I agree -- take it. If it starts to annoy you and you are done taking pictures you can always stash it in a locker at the front of the park.

Awesome!! Thank you! That's just what I need. Looks like Santa will be doing some shopping at the camera store. ;)

True. I never thought of that.

That's what I was worried about most. The weight of the thing. Our old digital pocket camera takes ok pictures, but it seems to be getting slower and slower between pushing the shutter button and taking the photo as well as flash recycle. It's a Sony 5 mp from 2004. I don't want to not get a good shot because of a bad camera. I can't tell you how many good shots of the kids I've missed because they've moved before the dang camera took the picture.

I didn't take ours because of the same worry (lugging it around). I used a small one that fits in my purse.

However, I'm strongly considering bringing it along on our trip in January. I might not take it every day, but it would be nice to get some really great shots...especially at night.

I took mine in March when I went to disney. I put it in my packpack and just put the extra lense in a ziplock bag and bought a 2 gallon one to shove the camera in in case it rained and it did. It was fine.

I got one for my DS17 and he took it when we went in June. We have the best pictures from that trip! :thumbsup2 He never complained of being tired of carrying it. He did leave it in the room, hidden of course, when he didn't want pictures of where we were going. If you wil be using a stroller, maybe you could put it in the stroller while you are walking around, resting, etc, and lessen your load for a little while.

i am debating on taking mine too! I find it very heavy. And with 2 kids and all the supplies, (and ofcourse i am Clumsy) I think it would be safer to keep at home!!!

Or i may take my P&S for the day, and take the SLR at night for Parades and P&P times..princess: pirate:

I took mine - have a tamrac rucksack that it fits into and has space for bottled water and snacks - can't be without a camera at DIsney - too many priceless moments.

Take care though - I saw a poor guy drop his outside the castle - well the strap broke I think and it just skated across the floor leaving bits of camera behind as it bounced! I felt sorry for him

By all means, take it. It can be a little inconvenient on some of the faster rides (but not a real problem) but you'll really beat yourself up all day long if you don't have it with you. There are too many great photo ops to leave it home. I used to always take my "put-in-the-pocket-little-camera" and I always wish I had the larger one. Especially when our grandaughter is with us. Now I just take the big camera to begin with and never miss a great shot.

Edited because I can't spel
