Anyone take their 6 year old son to 1900 Park Fare?

I have an ADR made for 1900 Park Fare before MNSSHP. I mainly booked it for myself because I love Cinderella

I told my husband about the dinner, but I have NOT told my son. Why, you ask? Because he hates having anything to do with princesses or anything girly... My husband says he will manage, but I'm thinking he will be too shy and won't acknowledge them, let alone even eat. But then again, the characters only come around usually once. I just want pictures and autographs. I don't need the whole interaction thing.

Would you switch your ADR or would you keep it? The things you would do for your children....

My DS 6 LOVES!!! 1900 Park Fare. He loves the mad hatter, and even gets a kick out of the princesses- and the mice. Keep the ressie; I'm sure you'll have a great time! And the food whether breakfast or dinner is really good.

I took my 1 year old DS....

My DD was 5 at the time and was in awe of Cinderella and Prince Charming (he actually kissed her hand)!

I personally don't think I would take my DS there unless the food was really great or something, but I have never been into princesses myself.

I am sure you are doing plenty for him, so if you really want this for yourself, he could have it alot worse!

If he's 6 I'm sure so much of your trip is already based on what he wants. Your DH is saying "Baby, if you want to go, we'll go." how sweet is that. Go, enjoy and as DH says the 6yo will get over it. Besides the princess and step sisters will fawn over him so be sure DH has the camera ready to capture the blushing moments. The threat of releasing those photos some day in the future may turn out to be very useful.

Alice and her crew (mad hattr, etc.) are at breakfast so that doesn't apply to the OP's question. Dinner has Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother, Suzy & Perla

As for my opinion of 1900 Park Fair, I would say skip it. I think the food is terrible and the character interaction is so very brief. My boys (6 & 8) hated it. I would definitely skip it since you don't think the other members of your party will like it at all.

Although your DS won't admit it, he'll probably have fun. We ate there when DD was 6 and DS was 4. Cinderella gave DS a big hug and a smooch on the cheek. He had a lovely lipstick mark on his cheek. I've never seen a 4 yr old blush so much. It was priceless!

I am taking my boys 10 and 7 and my daughter (6) to 1900 Park and CRT...actually my 7 year old son is going to eat @ CRT for his 8th birthday....They ate at Norway's Princess breakfast this past November and were fine...my kids love Disney and enjoy the atmosphere/themes at the restaurants.....

Do not skip it. One, this is your trip too. You should enjoy yourself. He will be fine. My six year old is not too fond of Princesses (putting it nicely for the boards), but we are taking him there in November. Yes, your son might put up a big fight if she tries to kiss him, but them just let him stand with her. He will have fun. You all will have fun. Go and enjoy yourself. That is what this is all about. I am sure you have other dinners planned for him with "his kind of characters". Have a great trip!

We went in June 07 when DS was 10. He wasn't thrilled about Cindy

but he had fun with Suzy Perla and Fairy Godmother

He loves strawberries, so he fell in love with the Strawberry soup and even got the recipe for it from our server. He asks to go back every trip just for the soup I understand that at Lady Tremaine and the step-sisters are at dinner now instead of Suzy & Perla and they are supposed to be a lot of fun! We had a really good dinner there Have a great time

My 6 year old is going to be eating many princess meals. He is a girly boy though he loves girl toys his fav. color for a long time was pink! If I waited a year or so I bet he would have cried just going near a "girl" themed place( I'm sure the influance of grade 1 boys will be a big part of him losing the girlie side). I do think it's funny once when he saw his cousin wearing a new hat he replyed" I just love your new hat" he also loves shopping .My older boys actually told me the didn't want to go to disney because of all the girl things. I'm taking them to universal for 2 weeks next year as a trade off since I'm just doing a little kids vacation anyways.

There is only one princess. Since late 2007, the dinner line up has been Cindy, Prince Charming and Cindy's stepmother and stepsisters who are supposed to be a comic hoot.

My boys love all the princesses so I am not a good comparison but I'd certainly go.

Everyone is absolutely correct. This whole vacation was planned around him and for him, just like they always are. I figured I would slip in a little ol' dinner for mom with Cinderella. DH was being a sweetie and he knows how much I love princesses, so he knows our son will manage. Knowing that we are heading to MNSSHP afterwards will probably help a lot.

I am KEEPING my ADR! Thanks for the much needed advice. I sure hope Cindy kisses him on the cheek so I can get a picture. That is so going to be blackmail for when he becomes a teenager!

When our DGC arrived at MCO last month, and they realized that they would be going to WDW and not only the "Beach Cottage in Florida" the first thing DGS (4) asked was "Will we eat dinner with Cinderella?" It's a must do for this family, and we're going again in November.

My 13 year old son loves 1900 Park Fare. He gets a kick out of the stepsisters at dinner (They always ask him if he's rich and single) and he thinks the breakfast is the best. He's more about food than characters but he plays along nicely.

I figure that its my dollar paying to feed him and he can just live with it!
Also, I have had to sit through my share of Ninja Turtle movies, baseball games and listen to his bathroom humor. So its all fair and good!
