Anyone suffer from ulcers?

I swear I'm too young to have the medical problems I have. I bring them on myself from stressing (Migraines, and now ulcers). I'm only 29! I went to the doctor last week with stomache issues. I was having stomache pain and cramping. I thought it was gas. I had no appetite (and I am definitely an eater). When I did eat I immediately felt queesy, too full, would burp (food might come back up). I had pain so intense one night I was up till 3:30am doubled over. Doc thinks it's likely an ulcer (maybe gall bladder, but I have no other gall bladderish symptoms). I am under tremendous stress. Financially our business is in the pits. Today I am petrified we are going to get hit with more bad business news and my stomache is cramping again. Doctor prescribed Aciphex and wants me on it for a week to see if my appetite comes back and the symptoms subside. If not, she's sending me to a GI specialist for an ultrasound and maybe an endoscopy. I of course am worried it's cancer (it's always cancer for me...I'm a hypochondriac too remember...). She also thinks I have a spastic colon! I have this weird pain in my right side below my left rib cage (right where your descending? colon would be) it comes and goes. It's probably all from stress...

Anyone else have ulcers? I don't even know what I should eat.

I have had ulcers in the past, Nexium healed them up. I had an endoscopy years ago and they found quite a few. I had another endoscopy about 4 years after that and the ulcers were gone. Course, now I have Crohns so my digestive issues just never end, LOL!

I would see a GI if you're having those kind of problems. Really. Have the scope to make sure that's what it is and not something else- a whole slew of things cause pain in that region.

(as far as foods, when I had ulcers I avoided spicy things mainly if I remember right. It was kinda trial and error)

My DH was just diagnosed with an ulcer and your chest-type pain sound similar to his. In DH's case, the doctor did an MRI and echocardiogram because his symptoms were all over the place. However, a simple blood test confirmed that DH has an ulcer.

Nicely enough, in the last few years, it's been discovered that most ulcers are caused by a bacterial infection that is treatable. (Yes, the ulcer is exacerbated by certain foods, drinks and stress, but the bacteria is causing the real problem.)

In DH's case, he'll be taking the antibiotic this next week to rid him of his problem.

Good luck!

I've had an ulcer since I was 20... it flares up every now and then. It was a combination of stress (planning wedding) & too many different medications (you would think my doctor woulda figured that one out?).

I also get migranes.. yuck!

I got diagnosed with my first ulcer when I was 14. I had been having quite a few stomach pains / nausea, and the medical center kept sending me back to class, saying that I was 'homesick', 'tired', and 'reacting to different food'. One night, it got bad, but I refused to go to the medical center. The cramping got so unbearable, my roommates had to carry me to nurse, where I proceeded to vomit blood. I was put on two different antibiotics. Now I have to take a prescription prilosec everday. It does act up a bit now and then, but nothing like that first time.

Good luck. I hope that you feel better soon.
