Anyone successful in booking FD when splitting promo dates with non-promo dates?

Tried to book 8/24-25 for two non-promo days and then 8/26-8/31 for promo dates. I am already booked- they say they can do it - but I will not save any $ due to booking two separate tickets.

You could change your first two nights to room-only, no tickets, and find something else to do those first days other than enter a theme park. Then book the package for the five nights you are eligible.

Ya, ya know I thought of that...but it is like- this is our first trip- we have been saving forever for it- and who knows when/if we will go again...so I guess we gotta just suck it up. We were going those dates regardless.... I do not want to give up any park passes-

I did this today. We had a package from 8/24 until 9/2 at the Poly. I split it up into 2 packages - the first one from 8/24 until 8/26 I only got one day base tickets for and the second one I got 8 day park hopper water park etc tickets. It was slightly more money than my original package but the free DDP savings more than makes up for that! They said it's highly unlikely that we'll have to switch rooms and we can check-in/check-out as early as 7am on the morning of the 26th.

For me it was more but I had already had the dining plan on my original ressies....
