I never thought I would be emotional the first day of third grade, but boy when DS got on that bus this morning I sure had a wave of sadness overtake me! Not sure what happened, but sending him off this morning just brought a tear to my eyes. Do you all still get emotional sending your kids off on their first day of school?

I have 2nd and 3rd grade dd. Let me tell you when when they get on the bus and are waving at me then the bus starts pulling away, my tears well up. Tomorrow is their 1st day.

I do, every year!! This year was extra teary though, as my oldest child entered Middle school. He and his sister will not be in school together again until he is a senior in high school. I was pretty choked up for the first couple of days.

Not me..........DD is 14 and DS is 16...........boy am I glad not to hear their bickering for a few hours....
But it was kind of sad, seeing them both on the same bus again, after 2 yrs, and only 2 more years to go for DS.

my mother still got teary this year...im going into my sophomore year of college and my brother is going into hihs freshmen year of college.....

I don't feel sadness that other parents seem to have. One woman was literally sobbing when we were both dropping off our kindergardtners last week. I do feel emotion, just not sadness. I don't know why that is......maybe because my kids have been in daycare and preschool before they were in school, it wasn't a shock for me as I'm sure it would be for the parent who had the child home all those years.

And thankfully both of my boys are not the type to feel shy or afraid of new adventures. Lots of shy little ones clinging to Mommy this year, I was glad mine wasn't one of them. :)

Wait until you take them to college for the first time. I cried for a week and now I can't believe that they have both graduated from college. I have one in middle school and I usually have a tear of two when he goes to school.

Every year no matter what grade she's in. I also get a smidge depressed that whole first week starting the day before she starts.

ah yes, every year! To me they are another year older and another year further away from needing me as much. :(

We sent DD5 off to Kindergarten last week and that was tough - but she's so independent that she got on without kisses or hugs or even a look back. DS9 is in 4th grade and over the summer he had an incredible growth spurt! I'm waiting for the facial hair to arrive as he looks so much like a BIG boy now....but he's the affectionate one and still gives lots of hugs and kisses - at least I have one! :)

I'll be crying at noon today when I put my youngest of 5 on the bus for her first day of kindergarten! My older ones are 10.5, 13.5, 16 and 18.5 so I don't get that same feeling of sadness, but I used to!!

Usually I don't but my oldest started his first day of High School this year. I'm still clueless as to how this happened, I swear it was just last year that I sent him off to Kindergarten. :( :(

I hid it well. 14yo boys don't take well to Mom snivelling in the parking lot in front of their friends.

I have 2 DDs 10 and 11, I am GLAD when they leave the first day! They fight CONSTANTLY. They go to different schools, so they get time away from each other. I dread the last day of school when I have 3 months of fighting again

I always feel a sadness when school starts, because they are another year older and I MISS them at home. DD started 10th grade and DS started 5th. I told DD I don't even want to think about 12th grade.:sad1:
I hope all of your children have a safe and fun school year.:sunny:

My girls are going into 7th, 5th and 3rd and yes, I'm sad about the passing of time. We had a great summer, a minimal amount of fighting, and it went by too fast. I think I wouldn't dread school so much if there was no homework and no projects!!!

Today was my dd's first day of school ever. And I didn't get emotional. In fact, I think I was more excited than she was! I'd love to go back to school!

::yes::
I thought when DSs started Kindergarten it would be emotional. They both went with a smile on their face. I always felt so bad for the moms who had the kids hanging from them screaming. DS12 started Middle School today, so that was a little change and DS8 started 3rd grade. As much as they say they hate school, they both were excited.

I cried! First time for that! In the past I would feel a lump in my throat or get just a little teary but today I bawled after they got on the bus! Luckily I held it together while they got on.
But my baby goes to first grade this year and I think that is what hurt.
He didn't even look back as he got on that big bus! Which is good and I am happy he is excited about first grade......but still it is another mile stone. Plus they seem to grow up so fast in first grade. He has stayed little for so long...
Then my DD she just looked way too old! Growning up!
UGH!!!!!!!!!!
