Anyone still fax room requests?

We leave in 31 days for WDW and are staying at the POP. I have faxed my room requests in the past but do people still do it? I have read something about a new computer system and that when you tell the CM when you make you ressies that is all it takes.

Can anyone tell me who has gone recently what they did? Thanks for all your help. I have learned so much from these boards.

Most resorts are ignoring the faxes. Just have your requests in your reservation and you will be fine.

Personally I like to wait until we get there. The CM's get a gleam in their eyes when they have the chance to sprinkle a little pixie dust on your stay.

We sent a fax request to the Poly for both of our trips last year 3 days prior and both times our request was met 100%. All we requested, however, was a nice garden view of something other than a parking lot. We didn't get real specific.

Going to the BC in 4 days and we plan on doing a fax request. Again, all we will request is a patio or full balcony. We also had this request added to our ressie when we made it through CRO.

My theory is, it won't hurt.

I have faxed request in the past and didn't receive them. I have also just gave my request when I made reservations and got them. I don't fret over it any more- I will have a great time if I have the perfect view or not. Will be at BWI in Aug, and I did make room request , but as I said if I get them great, if not that's OK too.

I honestly don't think the faxes matter one way or the other.

You get people who fax everytime and get what they asked for and swear by it. Then you have those (like me) who never fax and always get what they've requested. So no one really knows if they work or not.

Just make sure your requests are noted on your rez with CRO and then amke a pleasant reminder when checking in.

It never hurts to ask for what you want, just remember it's only a REQUEST and be happy with whatever you get. I always make my requests to CRO at time of ressie and then fax resort 2-3 days before we arrive. Many times I get everything I asked for, most recently upgrade at GF to MK/fireworks view (and even a special room number...wow...talk about pixie dust!) I let them know it was our anniversary, so if that the case, let them know. You'll have a grand time wherever your room is, and can see the fireworks from the beach or infront of Gasparillas. Enjoy!

When I stayed at the POP in May, I called 2 weeks before for the fax number to send it in and the CM told me to just give it to her ove the phone. I forgot to double-check when we got there at registrations (I guess all the travel made me have a momentary lapse of control-freak planning :rotfl2:) but when we got to our room, all requests were met. 50's bldg, non-smoking, as high up as possible(got 4th floor) facing the lake. Got those suggestions from these boards as I had not been to WDW in 17 years!
I guess it depends on how crowded it is and how many requests they get. I agree that it never hurts to ask, I would just call.
Enjoy!
