Just finished booking ADR's for our October trip to BLT and will be trying Kona Cafe for both a breakfast and dinner and also The Wave for breakfast. Both will be new to us, just wondering if anyone else will be trying something new during their stay.

Just curious... Are there any new restaurants in BLT? Table service or counter service??

PS- We ate at The Wave for dinner last May. The food was okay (not great), but the atmosphere looked a bit thrown together and chinsy.
Overall we will not eat there again.

trying new places. We are having diner our first night at The Wave, then a breakfast at Kona Cafe and we'll also do counter service meals and CR, Poly and GF. All of these, with the exception of The Wave, we wouldn't do if we were not staying at BLT. Can't wait!

No new restaurants at BLT.

Staying at BLT in Oct. gonna try new restaurants myself. Anyone been to Garden Cove at Swan. Is that in the DDP? According to the list, there's nothing for Swan resort.

We ate at The Wave in May. We each ordered the Seasonal Vegetable Stew and really enjoyed it. We don't normally eat dessert but we split one of their dessert samplers and it was excellent. I'm looking forward to going back. We didn't get seated until 30-40 minutes after our ADR time. The CM who seated us said it had been a crazy night and that the wait we experienced was unusual. I hope that's true because we will definitely be going back to The Wave on a future trip.

Kona Breakfast is great. Especially Tonga Toast & the special juice blend they have there.

We have just a 2-night stay (Sept). We're doing Hoop again the 1st night for my son's birthday w/3 of his friends (they have their own studio) and the 2nd night the 2 of us are having dinner at Kona Cafe for the first time. Usually I'm at BCV or AKV and don't bother to go to the MK resort area to eat.

Thanks for the tip! The seasonal vegetable stew sounds really good. I'm also hoping to try the Wave for my first time in October (but I'm not staying at BLT).

We are staying at BLT for 1 night on 1st November. We will be eating at both 'Ohana and Chef Mickeys, both of which are new to us :)

Even though they are no dining locations inside Bay Lake Tower, if you want to eat at Chef Mickey's or the Contempo Cafe just use the skybridge to the 4th floor and you will be right there at either location. When going to the California Grill go from the 4th floor to the 2nd floor check-in and when going to The Wave, go from the 4th floor to the Contemporary lobby.

Also I don't remember the exact numbers but the old North Garden Wing building had more total rooms then what Bay Lake Tower is going to have.

This is good info. I don't know if number of rooms translates 1:1 in number of guests seeing as though some DVC rooms are larger, but it's a good ballpark.

My concern was over crowding at the California Grill, which is one of our favorites.

Well I am willing to bet that a lot of the guests who have ADR's for the California Grill are not staying at the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower, so I don't think the ratio of guests staying at either location will have a huge impact. Plus I would say that's also true when it comes to getting ADR's for Chef Mickey's and The Wave.

Now that I think about it, the north wing is gone. How does the size of the old north wing compare to BLT?

IIRC there are more BLT rooms than north wing rooms, but I don't think it was a huge number more. Or maybe it was that the north wing had more rooms but BLT has a greater occupancy capacity. In any case, I doubt it will have much impact on CG, which books solid easily now anyway.

I think you're right. We eat at CG almost every trip, yet have never stayed at the CR.

My sister and I ate at The Wave in Jan. and it was o.k., I don't think I will make a special trip to go there again. We are trying Kona for Dinner in Oct. and Tutto Italia for the 1st time in October. We are trying T-Rex for the 1st time in August.

I was thinking, if anything BLT will hurt CGs business. A lot of people eat there to get the view of the fireworks at night. BLT has the Top of the tower lounge where people can get the same view.
